Anyone have any recommendations for clearing clogged T-zone pores? My derm put me on a glycolic acid for exfoliation and I love it but it doesn't clear the dirty pore look. I also got a facial recently and the esthetitian reccommended that I come in for some facial extractions. What's that? Sounds scary! BTW, I don't have gross blackheads all over my face or anything, just some blackish looking pores that probably only I notice but they bother me!!! What can I do? Pore strips are a joke; and scubs and topical serums don't seem to do the trick, either. Any advice would be appreciated!

I got a great deal on the Thin Finn in organic Dry Ecru at Gilt Club. I was pretty happy with them but spending a good penny I was hoping I would get a great Nudie worn out look. but the crotch...

These jeans are one of my favorites, they are sort of western! I wear them when my boyfriend takes me country dancing. I will admit, they are one of the hottest jeans for any rodeo, country...

I love these jeans! I had wanted them for awhile, and decided to finally get them. The price is not bad at all considering the cost of most other premium brands. I loved the "moto" look of these...

Diesel jogg jeans are not exactly what Diesel tries to sell them as. Diesel tries to sell them as sweat pants that look like denim. The fact is they are denim that are soft like sweatpants....

Diesel really out did themselves this time. The Braddom is a regular straight leg fit that tapers down to a slimmer opening. The fit is very comfortable and the tapering really makes them...

I know its bad but I squeeze mine out. Those pore strips don't really work for me - they only take out the little ones.

Keep in mind AHAs take a while to work.
Truthfully, I've recommended the Alpha Hydrox line here in the past and it's what I use. Girls always complement on my clear and smooth skin. Also, I use a 2% SA cream as well.

Thanks, you guys! Zeitgeist, how often do you do the AHA? I've been alternating my glycolic serum with my differin cream (for those bumpy pimples) every other night. I wonder if that's enough. What's the 2% SA? Does that mean salicylic acid? What's your routine; if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks!!!!
Thanks!!!!

Facial extractions is what they do when you get a facial - they usually steam your face then squeeze out whatever's in your pores. They say to only have a pro do it, otherwise you can cause scarring, etc.
OK, that's what I thought. I've had facials before but never extractions. Maybe that would help. Thanks xtina!

I would suggest washing twice daily using soap and warm water. Try using a product containing benzyl peroxide if your skin can handle it. (sometimes it dries the skin out too much) Mud masks also help to deep clean your pores. Also, definitely make an effort to exfoliate several times a week, if your skin can tolerate this.
The facial suggestion is perfect, just make sure you ask for the right one, there are different kinds I think? If you tell them thats your problem, they should know which to suggest... the deep clean or something?
Good luck hun.

I usually do it like once a week...especially around my nose!
i haven't had any scarring though, i've probably done it since high school but not as frequently back then
it almost gets addictive after a while..especially when you see some of the crap that's been sitting in your face

Every morning and night. Like I said, I use the Alpha Hydrox line, I like to be consistent.
They have a "new" and "old" line. I use the foaming face wash from the old line but the souffle and masks from their new one. I don't use their moisturizer as I find I don't need one (and if I did, i'd get a cheap equate brand "compare to olay" from wal-mart).
But yeah, their cleanser and souffle rock. The site always has specials so I order from them, I also use the foot cream.
I buy the souffle at Wal-Greens because when I ordered from their site they sent me coupons.
Well, if you're on differin, do you have a problem with acne? The thing is, I've never really got acne ever, so I may have been blessed with nice skin.
I don't get pimples but I do have to use a pin to occasionally get those white bumps under the skin -- what a bitch.
When I do get a pimple, I keep 10% BP on hand for spot treatment. It may be useful to dry up some blackheads on the nose too.
Yes. I get it in a cream as washes are useless. It's kinda hard to find as a cream, most are just scrubs. Paula's Choice has some but I buy Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion, it's 2% SA and around $5-6 at Wal-Mart.
I use the Alpha Hydrox Foaming Cleanser and then I pat dry and apply the 10% AHA Souffle.
I also use the 2% SA around my nose and areas prone to acne (I believe SA is better at targeting blackheads and such).
Once every week or two I'll use one of the Alpha Hydrox face masks, basically they are kind of like home peels.
I've had girls comment on how my skin is so nice, glowing, clear, smooth, etc...
Hope this helps, remember everyone's skin is different though.
I agree, I'm always squeezing out gunk, I can't stand it. I can't say I've had any scarring either.

Thanks so much for the input Zeitgeist, flower, and pookie! I'm gonna ask my derm about the AHA and the alpha hydrox mask, which I think may be helpful. I used to have perfect skin like yours (never pimples even as a teen), but after breastfeeding a baby (I have a two year old) my skin just changed. I don't have bad skin, but compared to the perfect skin I used to have, it just bothers me; and I am really anal~haha! I just have an oiler T zone than before and I never used to be able to see my pores, let alone the stuff in them! I use the differin for those tiny bumpy pimples that don't look like pimples, but they make the skin texture look less smooth. It seems to help. Anyway, thanks again for your suggestions!!!

I'd also suggest cleansing multiple times times a day with warm water. Make sure to exfoliate a few items a week as well. Instead of spending an arm and a leg on facials at the spa, pick up a facial steamer at the drug store. They are under $20 which is less then one spa treatment.
