COLD SORES!!

AH!!! I got a cold sore, for the first time ever this sucks! I didn't catch it early enough for the pill to stop it so does anyone have any tips on how to cure/hide/fix it thanks.

You can get those zapper treatments in your local drug mart. Ive never had them, but my mom uses ABREVA, it's a little under $20cd but it gets rid of them super quick.

So if you get a cold soar is it because you have herpes or what?

I once got a wart and was disgusted to find out it was a strain of HPV but not the sexual kind. Either way, it took months to get rid of. It was a cut that got infected with it, I would kill whatever sleaze was carrying that around.

Yes, cold sores are typically from the HSV-1 strain which is herpes and usually located around the mouth. Whereas HSV-2 is usually located in the genital area. However, you can have HSV-1 in the genital area or HSV-2 in the mouth area. In fact, the first strain is becoming more and more prevalent in the genital area and many researchers agree that the distinction between the "good" and "bad" strains is no longer relevant.

As for your cold sores, I don't know about topical treatments. However, lysine and certain foods are suppose to inhibit the virus. Also, take your zinc for the anti-inflammatory properties.

My friend's mom has cold sores and she swears by this topical cream that's prescribed.. It's suppose to work wonders. I'll get you the name.

Also, are you absolutely sure you have a cold sore (as in HSV-1)? It's highly contagious and I suggest seeing a doctor if this is your first outbreak.

I mean, do you need to have an STD (herpes) to get them around your mouth?

I know with warts its simply a virus that anyone can get.

the doctor said it's a cold sore but it's not behaving like one AT ALL. I think that I was *right* and that it's a blister (sunburnt lips! owie!!!) that got infected. like it's healed in 5 days. My doctor told me 2-3 weeks!

I dunno. I'm treating it like a cold sore, but I'm kinda unsure. Like the thing is 100% on my lip where it got burnt. It's weird... I'm leaving for vacation (again!) in 5 mins..I hope it's gone within a day or two! Thanks for your advice gals

A cold sore is usually HSV-1 and sometimes HSV-2, either way, it's an STD.

Cold sores are a SOB, IMO. Put Carmex on it to keep it moisturized. It's really hard to cover it with makeup b/c of the peeling. Make sure to buy Abreva and keep it in your house. It will help it heal faster, but you have to out it on when you feel tingling and an itchinhg sensation.
