Anyone have a suggestion for a good colon cleanser?

A friend of mine just recently found out he had colon cancer. He is only 42 years old! Of course, it made we start to think I should take better care of that area, which I do absolutely nothing for now. I eat a pretty low fat/calorie diet, but have eaten a lot of grilled steaks in my day. What is the best, most legit product? Please PM me if you don't mind.

Yeah Michelle's amazing on this. Here's the stuff she recommended for me: Country Baskets and Spices

It's the lower bowel balance stuff. I just starting using it a week ago.

hm, does the Master Cleanser work?? it's not a product you buy but....more like something you make yourself and drink everyday...did anyone try it?

I tried it. I lost like 10 lbs in ten days, and my bowel movements afterwards were much less uncomfortable. That was really nice, since I suffered from constipation before. But I went back to my old diet of eating whatever, so I think it's something you have to do once or twice a year and/or maintain a healthy diet to get the full benefits.

GoLYTELY

Get a prescription from your doc...

1) drink 1-2 liters of the solution per hour for a total of 4 liters.
2) Do not stray too far away from your bathroom for the next 8 hours

Note: This is not a simple "cleanser"... it's actually called an "evacuant"

Yea, I'm going to order this stuff. What is the Master Cleanser? Where can I get that?

Uh, how long does it normally take?

Master Cleanser is also known as the lemonade diet, where you only drink a mixture of lemon juice, maple syrup, water, and cayenne pepper for 10-40 days. You do a sea salt flush in the morning and take a laxative tea at night. Basically, its main purpose is to get rid of toxins in your body, and flush it out. And the flushing out process cleans up your digestive tract, since your stomach will always have some um... undigested particles here and there stuck to the intestinal walls. I think in my case, it helped a lot for my constipation, since it's not as severe or often anymore. But I don't know if I can ever do it again because drinking 32 oz of sea salt water everyday nearly killed me. SO GROSS.

^ yeah i heard everyone that's done it say that the sea salt flush is the nastiest thing they've ever tasted.....i can't imagine how it could be THAT nasty though...just..really salty?

It is so salty that it will make you GAG after couple swallows. Wow, this sounds so wrong right now. Ahem *clears dirty mind*

At first, I thought it shouldn't be too bad, since after all, it's just salt water. But trust me, there's a lot of salt in there, and 32 ounces is really too much. Everything else was pretty easy.

Probably NSFW.

I think the best thing that you can do to prevent colon cancer in the long run, is to eat a diet very rich in fiber. It keeps things moving in your system, so carcinogens don't stay in your colon too long. We're supposed to have 25 grams of fiber a day. There are really simple changes you can make, like getting Sara lee wheat bread (which has 4 grams) instead of white bread, or just eating more fruits (like apples with the skin on). Colon cleansers are good, but making lifestyle diet changes are the best way.

So I just received the Lower Bowel Balance. Anyone know how many and how often I should start out?

Thanks.

It's funny you all are talking about this....because I was just thinking I am going to start the master cleanse in the next couple of days. My girlfriend and I had tried it once before about a year and a half ago. A few days after we finished (we lasted 5 days) she had pain "up in there" that wouldn't go away for the next few weeks. It got progressively worse, and it turns out she actually had colon cancer!
We think that doing this diet might have cleaned out some of the "junk" in there and allowed her to feel pain....which led her to get it checked out. She is only 37 and caught it very early, and after a year of chemo and radiation she is now in remission!

Here's a link to some info on the diet.

Also when my friend had just finished her treatments she had lost so much weight none of her clothes fit. I had mentioned it i an HF post and all the sweet people on this site donated money and we got her some premium denim jeans...which she had never either tried btw.

Start by taking 2-4 after each meal. Increase dosage until you get a reaction, which usally is a good healthy poop. LOL You can keep that dosage or cut back until it is comfortable for you. This works gradually and like any herbal product there is really no dosage because it will differ for everyone based on diet, years of food abuse or health problems. I took 2 after each meal for the first day or two then I got sick of waiting and took a handful probably around 8-10 and the next day I think I lost 5 pounds first thing in the morning.

You can't take too much, the worst that will happen is you have a loose poop, which is fine if you are comfortable with that. I take about 8 a day.

Do you feel fatigued while doing the MasterCleanse? Not having any food seems so tiring.
^ It was tiring for a couple days, but you're supposed to prevent that by drinking the right amount of liquids, instead of just doing the minimum. I felt like I was in a daze for a bit, but during the times when I was active and not bumming around, I felt a lot better and clear-headed. Hope that helps!
