Now, now people. No need to kick teams that are already down.

over-achieving is a great description for them. As a team, they don't get the respect they deserve, but crosby is somehow involved with the vast majority of every nhl ad campaign. I don't mind it as long as he doesn't turn into an arrogant prick ala Kobe Bryant. I've got my fingers crossed hoping that doesn't happen.

My Playoff Picks

2007 EASTERN CONFERENCE QUARTERFINALS

Series A - #1 Buffalo vs. #8 NY Islanders - Buffalo
NY Islander lost DiPetro and any chance of winning against a very good Buffalo team

Series B - #2 New Jersey vs. #7 Tampa Bay - New Jersey
Brodeur. Period.

Series C - #3 Atlanta vs. #6 NY Rangers - Atlanta
Atlanta has the firing power (Kovalchuk + Hossa).

Series D - #4 Ottawa vs. #5 Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh
Ottawa never does good in the playoffs. Crosby, Malkin and Fluery FTW.

2007 WESTERN CONFERENCE QUARTERFINALS

Series E - #1 Detroit vs. #8 Calgary - Detroit
Honestly I picked Detroit because I hate Calgary but This is a pretty good match up betwen goalies, Kippersoff and Hasek.

Series F - #2 Anaheim vs. #7 Minnesota
I honestly don't know which team will win, I'm a fan of both teams this year.

Series G - #3 Vancouver vs. #6 Dallas - Vancouver
With no shootouts in the playoffs and one of the best goalies in the League, Vancouver must win.

Series H - #4 Nashville vs. #5 San Jose - Nashville
If Nashville van get some of their forwards back and make the best decision between Vokoun and Mason, then yea they won this series.

nice analysis Jindeberg

A lot of canuckers here, and even though they got nothing on the oilers I have a hunch that they're gonna be Canada's team this year. All you really need is a hot goalie, and they have one of the best. And I hate to admit it, but the Sedins are magical together.

As for the East...Buffalo is just too good to lose. Hoping for Ottawa to make it instead though, and to meet van in an all canadian final!

not really an analysis at all but thanks for the compliment
its more of who i want to want and why they may have a chance of winning their respective series

jlpubarch has a more reasonable view, that i mostly agree with lol (cept for SJ vs. Nash)

Well, I wish my Blues were going to make it but the past couple seasons have not gone so well. Who am I kidding, they've looked like shit.

Otherwise, I've got the Red Wings.

Series A - #1 Buffalo vs. #8 NY Islanders
BUFFALO IN 4
They just got connely and afinaganov back, way to much firepower against a seemingly rookie goalie from the islanders.

Series B - #2 New Jersey vs. #7 Tampa Bay
NJ IN 6
TB has goaltending issues, and how do u bet against a man who has 48 wins and 12 shutouts this year.

Series C - #3 Atlanta vs. #6 NY Rangers
NEW YORK IN 7
rather see ATL win, but they've been struggling lately while the rangers have been playing well.

Series D - #4 Ottawa vs. #5 Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH IN 7
pit is going to be the darkhorse of this years playoffs.

Series E - #1 Detroit vs. #8 Calgary
DETROIT IN 6
could go longer if hasek gets injured or if kipper really starts to light it up like he did in 04.

Series F - #2 Anaheim vs. #7 Minnesota
ANAHEIM IN 7
think minny will give anaheim a run for thier money, but the big 3 on D for anaheim will be too much for minny to handle.

Series G - #3 Vancouver vs. #6 Dallas
VANCOUVER IN 6
somewhat bias pick, but i do believe that vancouver will have an easier time scoring on whoever dallas puts in net, than dallas will scoring on bobby lu.

Series H - #4 Nashville vs. #5 San Jose
SAN JOSE IN 7
should be a very exciting series between 2 run and gun teams, could go either way.
Series A - #1 Buffalo vs. #8 NY Islanders
BUF IN 5
Connolly and Afinogenov are back to add more depth and offense to the team. Buffalo has the #1 offense in the league in addition to having Miller. DiPietro may not be 100% when he comes back, and it will be hard to stop Buffalo's offense.

Series B - #2 New Jersey vs. #7 Tampa Bay
NJ IN 6
This is basically a series between offense vs. defense. TBL has the offense, and NJ has the defense. I usually favor the defensive team more. TBL's scoring line may not have much of a chance against Brodeur and NJ's checking line.

Series C - #3 Atlanta vs. #6 NY Rangers
NYR IN 7
This will probably be a close series. The Rangers have been doing great after adding Avery to their roster. ATL may have Hossa and Kovalchuk, but Lundqvist has been hot. This will also be ATL's first playoff run.

Series D - #4 Ottawa vs. #5 Pittsburgh
OTT IN 7
Even though PIT took the series 3-1 in the regular season, OTT has more playoff experience. Both have the offense, but OTT should have a better defense against the young guns of PIT.

Series E - #1 Detroit vs. #8 Calgary
DET IN 6
DET has home ice advantage, and they have been stellar on home ice, whereas CGY did horrible on the road. Hasek also does well in the playoffs.

Series F - #2 Anaheim vs. #7 Minnesota
ANA IN 7
I don't want ANA to win, but it may be the case again this year. Both are pretty evenly matched this year with each of their games ending by a one-goal victory, but S. Niedermayer and Pronger will be tough for MIN to break. Backstrom does not have playoff experience, and it is unsure whether or not Fernandez is up for the task after being sidelined for most of the season.

Series G - #3 Vancouver vs. #6 Dallas
VAN IN 6
Both have excellent goaltending and defense, but low scoring. With VAN's #1 PK%, home advantage, and the Sedins, the edge goes to VAN.

Series H - #4 Nashville vs. #5 San Jose
SJ IN 7
Even though NSH took the series in the regular season 3-1, SJ has the best road record and second best PP%. SJ also has a better goalie tandem compared to NSH. Guerin should be back for game 1, while NSH will still be short of Sullivan and possibly Erat. Forsberg is great in the playoffs, but he always runs into injuries, and that is a big risk for NSH.

Calgary is getting their ass handed to them

NASHVILLE and SJ series is crazyy

We went to the playoffs game in Dallas last night just to see our beloved Dallas Stars lose again in overtime, as we've gotten used them to do. Well, at least my favorite local band (the OLD 97s) was playing during the first break.
There are fireworks in the San Jose-Nashville series and I'm glad I went to both home games here in Nashville!!!

A brawl, 6 ejections, 16 goals, 1 suspension, all in 2 games. Tons of bad blood. Coaches ragging on each other. Accusation aplenty. THIS!!! IS playoffs.

Go Nashville. Nashville in 7... winning it on home ice.

Oh, and the birth of a superstar. Malkin who? Radulov has 3 goals, 1 assist in 1.5 games (he got ejected 1/2 way through one).

I think nashville wins this one because of Arnott. Last year, Thorton dominated the Preds along the boards, but so far, every time Thorton is on the ice, we have sent out Arnott's line. Thorton is bigger, but it is quite obvious while watching them along the boards that Arnott is the stronger man. Thorton, the Sharks #1 weapon, has been a non-factor, while everyone on Nashville, except Kariya has been stroking it. Forsberg with 2 goals, 3 assists, Dumont with 4 goals, Radulov with 3 goals.

I'm excited, as you guys can tell.

Yeah I really expected you guys to win. It seemed like it was in the bag. This has got to be one of the more boring offensive series ever. Marty Turco is my new favourite tender!

Most suprising is Isles winning one...DiPetro FTW?

You should have been there. The Stars really dominated for the first 2 periods, and then they just quit somehow, or their luck turned....whatever. Even the pretty rowdy/loud crowd became quiet because we sort of knew what was coming. But Turco has been great so far. Can't blame it on him this time.

Oh yeah I didn't mean it sarcastically as in he let in two goals. I mean it. I am an ex. junior hockey goalie, so I have a passion for goalies. He is just so technical and so cool....he'll drop all his technicallity if it means to stop the puck. Whenever you see him on camera, he just makes it look like it's another day at the office.

Did anyone watch the Isles game today? I feel for you Islander fan's...those were some lousy calls at the end of the game there. They let so much slip by and then call a really questionable one after. Those are certainly hard to swallow.

don't know how long it'll last but the Broadway Blues are flyin".......LET'S GO RANGERS
