I know this isn't a hockey forum but make some picks!! - Page 2

the finals i want to see would be pitt vs. the canucks!
but realistically speaking i think buffalo is going to win the east, while the west is fairly wide open, although i think nashville and dallas might run into some goaltending issues.

Vancouver Canucks!!! YEAH!!!

Although I have not been in Canada since we had the "Russian Rocket"

Gotta pull for the Canucks out of the West,

The East:

Pittsburgh would be fun, but I don't see it, I'm gonna say Buffalo wih NJ always a contender.

Same! If only the Avs won. That would be a wicked game with the last playoff spot on the line.

Yes, but how ironic for the Oilers to pull a rather meaningless win when they needed to lose in order to secure a possible first draft pick. Well done, Edmonton.

WEST: Well, gotta go for the home team: Calgary... been a season ticket holder for years, for better or worse.

EAST: New Jersey or Buffalo

Question for any of you... when your team gets eliminated, do you cheer for "the Canadian team" or "the American team"? (Or any other geographically appropriate teams for the sake of patriotism) For instance, last year I got a lot of flack for not cheering for the Oilers but there was no way I could -- I'm no bandwagon fan and that damned (but good-natured!) Calgary/Edmonton rivalry runs deep. I didn't necessarily cheer for the Canes; I was pretty impartial. I just watched the game and enjoyed my beer. Oh, and I pocketed 50 bucks when I had bet against the Oilers with a ranting, obnxious, ingrate of a "fan". The same buffoon was rubbing tonight's win in my face and my whole lack of "national pride" came up again. Which I think is rather silly since Carolina had almost as many Canadian players as Edmonton did. Am I lacking in patriotism because I don't feel this burning need to "bring the cup back to Canada"? I mean, other than Calgary, my hometown, I would never choose my picks simply because they're Canadian. Thoughts?

go CANUCKs GOO !!!!

I'll be rooting for the Calgary Flames all the way since they're my hometown team. Honestly, I don't like their chances though. They've completely sacrificed the amazing defense of the past two years for more offense, and it just doesn't feel right.

I'd love to see the penguins go all the way. I don't really like their chances either, but I like cheering for the underdogs, even though they're good enough that it's hard to consider them underdogs. Same goes for the islanders if they even make the playoffs. Both teams were garbage last year, and pulled it together really well this year.

I think we'll see nashville and buffalo in the finals if neither team run into injury problems. In my own little fantasty world, I'd like to see calgary and pittsburgh or buffalo in the finals.

If Calgary gets eliminated, which I'm almost expecting to happen, I'll be cheering for any of my other previously mentioned teams first. I'd be cheering for ottawa too, although I still think they're a mere shadow of last years team. It was a real shame that hasek got injured last year, and it was a total uphill battle from there.

I REALLY hope the leafs don't make the playoffs and if they do, I'll be cheering for the opposing team all the way. I don't like vancouver at all, and would really enjoy it if one of the sedin's got injured. That would seriously cripple their team to the point that they might as well just throw in the towel.

So, no...I don't have very much patriotism when it comes to teams. I base my allegiance to teams based on individual players and a team's style of play more than anything. Which is why I'm kinda sad to see Colorado not make it this year, because Sakic is such a beast!

I was actually a vancouver fan back then. I loved Pavel Bure. He was so quick and talented, and to think he was drafted in the sixth round! Somebody obviously wasn't paying attention.

i wouldn't cheer for a team just because they are canadian. hate the leafs, just like most canadians outside of the greater toronto area, and i'm also not a flames fan so if the canucks get knocked out i'll just cheer for a team i enjoy watching.

but the playoffs are all about goaltending and defense and the canucks got one of the best so GO CANUCKS GO!

the reason they were able to get him so late in the draft was because there was an NHL rule that made him ineligible, but the canucks somehow found a loop whole around it and so they were able to draft.

if my Sabs get eliminated (knock on wood) I'd have to survey the remaining teams.

I guess I would have to go for Pittsburgh. They REALLY remind me of the last years' Sabres...young, over-achieving and still don't get the respect they deserve.

I totally wouldn't root for Ottawa, all you have to do is reference Alfredsson's weak ass play to get his team eliminated last year to see why.

Jersey shouldn't win because they're style of play is ENTIRELY where the league doesn't want the game to be going.

In the West...I'd go for Vancouver. They entered the league same year as the Sabres and have yet to win it all either.

ottawa never goes anywhere in the playoffs, so i'm going to be rooting for buffalo. i like how they play.

and i don't know much about the west so i won't pick a team for that conference.

honestly i just like waiting until the finals to watch the games. regular season hockey doesn't hold a candle to playoffs.

and for you leaf haters/lovers:
YouTube - Nike commercial - Sundin

'die maple leafs, die!'

LOL

Toronto Eliminated........bitches =D

Islanders win, Leafs are out. Oh man, that feels good. I can't wait to hear Don Cherry's insightful comments about the matter.
He'd probably say they cheated because NJ didn't play Brodeur.

Oh the sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet retribution for Toronto's dirty style of play.

I can't wait to hear this one..."oh we gave it all we could but the playoffs were out of our hands in that tri-state showdown"

HA! yet another mediocre and non-playoff season for the Leafs! Love It!

leafs are pathetic
