tPF MP Master Thread???

I didn't know if this would be appropriate or not, but figured I'd try anyway and gauge interest.

I'm sure SOMEONE on here has MP privelages. I thought it would be nice for peple to post up here what they would like to get and for someone with MP rivelages to see if there is an item of interest for sale on tPF.

Just a thought, let me know what everyone thinks.

THANKS : )

PS: I'm looking for Damier Mens Wallets AND LARGE Damier or Monogram Agendas. : )

so if someone who has mp privledges [sp?] found something that someone here wanted, they would buy it for them, then send it to them? if so, not sure, but it might get the person who can get on mp kicked off.

^ that's why I wasnt sure if it was appropriate or not. I personally don't see why they would, because it's basically buying to resell. There's nothing wrong with that, but I didn't know what the rules for tPF MP were, so figured a discussion would be in order before posting a permanant thread on such a subject.

ok... nvm, i just edited to remove what i initially wrote.

i don't think it's allowed, but i'm not certain.

^ I agree. I didn't think this would be something that would work, because rreally it is going around the whole point of having an application process, which I also agree with. I just REALLY want to know what's beyond those gates and I'm not that active on PF, so I know I'm not going to get access to it for quite sometime.

OH WELL! : (

I know a member here who has privileges and I'm pretty sure she said that she cannot mention anything about the MP or she'll get kicked out.

well, at least we tried.

Does any one have a basic knowledge of what their requirements are? I would think they would open it up to whoever wanted to buy but limit the sellers only. I just want to buy stuff.

Yeah man, don't even joke about that shit or you'll be castrated. *semi-serious*

So I just read the thread on PF about the requirements and it states that there are no guidelines as to how long you ahve to be a member or how many posts you must have, then two paragraphs down it says you must have MINIMUM 500 posts and 5 MONTHS of membership. Guess Ill be waiting a while : )

Thanks for all the feedback and comments on this everyone : )

that is definitely true.

to be honest, i think it's easy to become active and interested if you really love handbags. i already racked up 2100+ posts in less than 8 months, and i love joining in discussions there because there's always a topic that interests me.

You will lose privileges for sharing, even if it is on another forum.

I may come off as a complete cold hearted b*tch for not sharing, but there are also A LOT of issues surrounding this that I cannot share. Also, if this keeps up, I am afraid they will take away the MP again from the tPF members which is really not fair for members who have worked hard to get in there.

ditto, i have almost 1000 already. i like reading about other people's bags, new season stuff, etc.

The whole process of getting MP just seems so subjective on one hand, and then on the other hand it's objective because I'm sure they take into account how many designer bags you actually own.

I doubt they would let an active member with a few thousand posts to gain MP without actually owning at least a few designer bags. For someone like me, I can only count 4 'designer' bags so I think that disqualifies me as a good candidate regardless of forum participation.

I was never into purses, but I signed up for tPF sometime last year and lurked around but never posted. Last month I decided to actually check out some of the other subforums they had, and realized they have some really interesting sections that don't have anything to do with purses! So I started posting in them, and have been able to rack up close to 200 posts in less than a month's time. And I'm not even doing filler posts to just bump up my post count. They have a fun general discussion section...I'm finding it pretty easy to post there. I think I'll end up with the required 500 sooner than expected!

The site is dangerous though (like this one)...I never really owned any "designer" purses and in the past month, I've bought a Kooba Bonnie and an Anna Corinna mini city tote...all because of that darn site! Now I'm selling off jeans to make up for my new habit!

A lot of people either talk about their old bags or about their next purchases. I think a quick search on a users posts would reveal how large their collection is.

But wow, I'm surprised you got MP owning just one bag. I really thought they would partially base it own your existing collection.

How many bags have you bought/bought and then resold since joining tPF? You seem to have quite the collection if I recall correctly.

^ Wow, that's way off base. They definitely do not let you in based on how many or what kind of bags you have. It's more about how involved you are in the community and your dedication to it so that way they can safeguard against people who are in for a quick scam and go.

I'm just really surprised! I had the impression it was exclusive to people who bought a bajillion handbags every month.
I went in there with almost 0 handbags but after conversing and seeing everyone's collection, you naturally become hooked and start buying up bags you cannot stop dreaming about.

I used to laugh at bags over $25 since it was not worth it to me (Except the Juicy bag, I REALLY wanted that one) and now I am a bag lady =P

I agree 100% w/ sparkles48.

Believe me, there are many members who don't even buy a bag/accessory every month... and there are even members who are on self-imposed bans from buying anything for a certain time period. If you spend enough time there, you will see that there are plenty of those who don't have huge and expensive collections, but are very much active and interested in the community. Some eventually build their collection... but owning tons of higher end designer bags is definitely not a requirement.

It is not a requirement to own an X amount of designer bags, that is not what the MP is about. We get ladies with insane collections and members who are seeking to open their collection with some good deals.

The reason for our requirements are that we need to get a sense that people are on our forum not just to score an MP invite. Additionally, it makes it less likely for its members to get into trouble with a problematic buyer/seller - even though sh*t can still happen.

No worries, the requirement is not that tough, I don't think our forum is challenging to find an interesting discussion to participate in, time flies by and before you know it you'll hit the reqs.

Good luck!

^ ahhh... spoken from tpf's sugar daddy himself.

2venus, and others... don't be discouraged by the requirements! if you can talk about bags like you discuss denim here, then it should be easy!
