brown goes with any jeans, its black and white you need to be careful with. besides, its more important to match your belt to your shoes/accessories/tops than it is to match it to your jeans.

i disagree with the brown belt/brown shoes and black belt/black shoes logic as far as being a definitive rule. matching you belt with your shoes and accessories does not always mean that it needs to be the same color. of course that is the rule of thumb for business or formal dress, but there are way too many options and combinations in casual or trendy attire for that to be a steadfast guideline.

You don't have to wear brown shoes with a brown belt, but I don't think you should wear black shoes with a brown belt.

Agreed.

^ Also agreed.

As far as I'm concerned, you can get away with pretty much anything as long as you do it confidently.

Well, I'd say the shine of the belt is the most important when matching. If you have a matte black belt, it can match more earthy colors. If you have a shiny black belt, I'd stay away from earthy colors.

I wear my brown belt with almost anything - except my black shoes... and maybe my brighter shoes.

Well said.

I have a brown old style Diesel ET belt and it goes with every single pair I have, even white! Personally I prefer brown or white as an accessory colour, I'm not fond of black at all.

don't fall into the matchey matchey trap. if your outfit is beginning to look too matchey, use your belt as an opportunity to provide some complimentary contrast. the whole "match your belt with your shoes" are for newbies who first need to learn how to match in the first place.

you can match easily a brown belt with black outfit or white outfit+light jeans

2 ideas:

brown belt/89S-88Z-8AA-8BM and the likes/black sweater/white buttondown/black or white shoes/black or brown or light vest

brown belt/71J/white sweater/black tee/brown-white shoes

I like having touches(at least) of black in all my non-all black outfits though(scarf, coat, vest, belt, shoes or underwear)
