I eat alot of it.. especially raw tuna.. but I have to watch that b/c of the mercury content.. other then that I eat it several times a week.. I love it

I just eat the wasabi. Really.

It is good for you as long as you don't eat too many of the fatty extras (like crunchy rolls, things with tempura, salmon skin, etc.) I LOVE SUSHI. Id eat it for every meal if it wasnt so expensive

I absolutely adore sushi and crave it all the time!

^agreed, I love sushi. I just read an article about mercury content in fish and which fish are most effected. Salmon and tuna were low on the list, as was talapia, all three I eat regularly so I was glad to read it. But the crunchy kills me, I love spicy crunchy tuna.

Southernbelle, Hana on University has the absolute BEST spicy tuna around if you are interested.

Yummm I'm craving for some sushi right now. Last Tuesday my Chinese class went out to a sushi buffet restaurant for lunch. I ate like a PIG--two plates of sushi!!

I heart sushi. There's this great place close to campus and they always have $5.99 lunch specials.

It is healthy for you as long as you keep the soy and wasabi intake low. As for tempura and raw tuna/fish, the latter is sashami and considered distinct from sushi. Sushi refers to rice combined with toppings.

I don't even know why I wrote that, but now that I think about it it's the high sodium intake from the wasabi. It might also lead to indigestion and who wants that?
Ahhhhh, sounds likely. I know after I eat sushi I drink like 8 glasses of water about an hour later then I feel like a swollen road kill unitil I can go pee. The Soy sauce makes me so dehydrated.

But for me it is ritual, I can't pass it up. I have sinus issues so I LOVE Wasabi!!

argh sushi is my most FAVORITE food! omg so scrumptious!
I looove it but I am scared to eat it. I used to eat it a lot and then i kept getting horrible stomach pains afterwards. I stopped eating it for a while and then slowly started again and I felt fine and realized the only thing I hadn't had was the roe on the outside so I thought that may have been the problem. Then a few months ago I went and had sushi at a place where i've never eaten before, had the roe and everything and it was SOOO good. Well then I threw up for 2 days. I don't really know if it was from that or not, but now I am scared to eat it. I miss it.

is it possible you have an allergy to roe? I'm pretty sure you can be allergic without having problems consuming fish. just a thought....
I think I might try eating some at this place that I haven't got sick at and stay away from the roe. It just seems like weird thing to be allergic to.

Do any of you have rotating sushi bars near you? Thats my fav!
it's pretty common to be allergic to fish. is this only with roe or with any fish? or maybe it's a specific fish (forgot what kind of fish roe comes from).

the really small orange roe is my absolute favorite!

mmmmmm sushi....this thread is making me hungry My favs are tuna maki, hokki (surf clam) and ebi sushi. Anyone wanting great sushi NEEDS to come to Vancouver, soooo fresh and cheap!

is this Simon Sushi you're talking about? if not, where do you go? i'm always on the lookout for new sushi places. right now my favourites around campus are Masa, Sushitrain (expensive cause I eat a LOT), Sushi Inn and anything on the "Sushi Mile". hahaha.
