best way to take a multi-vitamin - pill, chewable, or liquid?

and by "best," i mean potency, absorbency, yada yada yada. and would chewing 6 flintstone chewables (or garfield or whatever) be the same as swallowing a domino-sized pill? but i also understand that a lot of pills are time-released, but in theory couldn't you time-release when you consume each of the 6 pills throughout the day? as for as liquid goes, i can't even imagine how that is time-released, but i can see how i may be more easily absorbed.

That's a lot of questions. There are lots of theories on how to take vitmains, when to take vitamins and what to take together or with food. Here is a pretty good link to just about any vitmain information you could ever want. Vitamin Information specifically one of my favorites Vitamin C Information

As a side note, vitamin supplemtns don't do squat if your intestiens aren't clean. Clogged intestines means no absorbtion or minimal absorption so you are just pooping and peeing your $$ down the toilet. Keep that in mind before you break the bank of supplements.

Best thing to do, colon cleanse & wheat grass juice. Easiest and cheapest program you can be on. The best vitamins come from sea vegetables(kelp) and grasses. GREEN GREEN GREEN. Then add in anything else you want.

Good info as usual..

One thing to keep in mind too Tim, is that the liquid forms of vitamins have an extremely short shelf life, much like that of sports supplements like liquid creatine ect.

Many researchers have found that within a few months on the shelves there is almost nothing left to be absorbed. Liquid vitamins are few and far between and I wouldnt trust them.

What PoorPoohBaby said is good advice. The more natural the supplement the easier your body will absorb the nutrients contained therin.

I take my vitamins with a spoonfull of flax seed oil ( tastes like walnuts) and a spoonfull of greens ( powdered vegitables) to help with the absorbtion.

I dont know if these are still around, but do a search for vitamins by Twinlab called DualTabs. They are made in different layers according to how your body breaks down certain vitamins/minerals ect and have great absorbtion rates.

I dont take too much. Flax seed oil, glucosamine, protein, greens, enough water to float the Titanic and a good multivitamin..

And yeah the greens takes some gettin used to. I put a very small amount of water in a glass, mix it quickly and down it like a shot. It helps that I use the fruit flavoured version as well...

I take tablets and capsules..

Just be careful :

1) They are a reputable make eg Solgar- worth paying extra for

2) you only take things you really need as overloading your body with something you get enough of in your diet can make youi ill.

I have serious health issues and regular blood tests so I know what to take - don't just take it because your friends do.

I've also been vegetarian since birth so have special requirements..

Check with your GP if you're not sure...icon_razz.gif
