I don't understand how a PayPal code works--does the seller take the hit for the reduced cost, or does PayPal suck it up? And if so, why do they offer this sort of coupon? I mean, it's great, but what's in it for them?
No, of course the seller doesn't get less... that would not go over well with anyone I don't think. Paypal fronts up the discount essentially. Given that they still take fees on the entire sum, and perhaps end up getting people to spend more than they might normally have bid, they probably don't lose much
I just tried using the "celebrate-2" code, and it told me "You cannot use this redemption code from your paypal account". I am not really sure what that means, but I thought I would post with my experience. I am guessing that the code only works for certain users or items. Who knows...I also tried it all caps and all lowercase...same result.
I just tried 'em too and I got the same thing as everyone else. CELEBRATE says it hasn't been activated, while CELEBRATE-2 says it's invalid . . . it makes it sound like CELEBRATE should be working sometime in the future? I won some makeup earlier today, and I'm hesitating to pay for it right this moment because I'm hoping this code will start working soon.
HAHA OK I just got in the mail a b-day card from ebay celebrating their 10th anniversary. In it was the coupon for the 10% off using 'CELEBRATE-2' the only problem is that you can only use it if you recieved this special coupon from EBAY. The coupon said it was only good for the paypal account I have registered w/ my ebay username. So if your paypal e-mail isnt on this special list you can't use the code, sorry for you but YAY for me
