Dry Denim for Girls

I want to get a pair of dry denim jeans (maybe that'll stop me from buying so many fancy pairs...) but I've only seen photos of guys with them on with the except of bizzy over in AF and her body is so different from mine. Do any of you HF girls have dry denim? I'm looking for photos.

I'm not sure where to start. I don't want to buy offline because the prices here are ridiculous (APC is like $250 or something, Nudies even more)

I'm a pretty true 25 in most brands and a 28.5-29 inseam (so I would definitely have to hem since they'd look weird even with cuffs, unfortunately)

i got a pair of nudie super slim kims for a great deal last yr .. and these babies run SMALL! all the guys say the dry denim stretches out a lot, but i found they don't give at all. i wish they stretched out cuz they're freaking tight on me, and i even sized up (i got 25, i usually wear 24).

as you can see from the pic, the zipper doesnt make it all the way up.. lol. they're from last april.

unfortuantely they're so tight i don't wear them often. which is too bad.. i'd love to see the progress on the wash as i wear them.

oh and forgot to add.. the tag says it's a 25/32, but the inseam measures 30" perfectly.. which is exactly my inseam.

I've never tried them, but I hear that Denimbirds and G Star (I think that's the brand) make great raw jeans.

litebrite - holy !@#% you look sooo hot in those, i am totally TOTALLY sold!! i love dark denim, especially that dry denim sheen. i have a short inseam (approx 29) so those would be perfect with sneakers/flats for me. may i ask where you got them and for how much....or if you know of any place i can get them for cheaper than retail?

mdjmsj - i've seen denimbirds and i loove the pockets, thanks for reminding me of them. g-star unfortunately doesn't fit me well.

I have four pairs of dry denim (so much for using dry denim for weaning me from buying and buying more).

My favorite are acne hex DC, which are expensive retail, but pop up on ebay for ~$100 with some frequency. You'll have to size up. I'm always a 25 or 26 in all jean brands, and had to go with a 27 in these.

I've had the same experience as litebrite with my nudie ssk--they just haven't stretched out! I think it's because they aren't 100% cotton. But they are my second favorite pair, despite the fact that I have to wear them with a long shirt. Watch standardstyle for these--they were selling them for less than $40, but they are currently out of stock.

The first pair I ever bought were Lee 101z, and they have faded the best. But they have also stretched out, and have a very low rise, so I don't wear them as much.

I'm not terribly fond of my denimbirds. There's just nothing special about them. Revolve had many pairs of them for $50 a couple of weeks ago, but it looks like they only have one style now.

thanks azia! i got them at a store called plenty here in vancouver... they're like aritzia, but not as mainstream. i was lucky and scored a really good deal. i only paid 'bout $50 because i had a $25 gift cert and that was the last pair of nudies they had.

i think revolve carries nudie SSKs. maybe use the 30% off first time user coupon if you have one?

i had also tried on denimbirds and i found the back pockets did nothing for me.. i wasnt too fond of them either.

i have denimbirds and i love them! i'll have to post pics later. they're over a year old but i've probably worn them for a total of less than 2 months (put together). I sized up on these since they run small!

^ thanks, i'd love to see them.

i can't find anything good on eBay or even online stores! grr. there are no nudies, denimbirds, or acne (at least not in my size) that ship to Canada. Revolve doesn't carry Denimbirds or Nudies for women in dry denim anymore. :/ I guess I'll just have to be patient if I don't want to pay retail.

ok not super flattering pics but my mirrors are weird and i can't seem to get rid of the streakyness of the glass. these are 26x32 denimbird bootcuts. the inseam runs a little shorter than stated and they have stretched out a little bit from its original state. i got these in a trade with jessani and i think they started out at 13.5" and she got them close to 14" (?), im not sure. but i'm a 25/26 and they fit comfortably, which im not sure is a good thing or not lol.

PS SORRY for the huge pictures. i forgot i left my camera at high res and i don't have a photoeditor because my drive died.

^ How much do they go for and any online or Toronto retailers? All those girls are so friggin skinny...Their legs are like my arms. Grr.

I'm intrigued now. Does Aritzia or Stylexchange carry dry denim?
I highly doubt Aritzia carries dry denim. Holt Renfrew does though!

Revolve has like 2 dry styles right now...or they did when I checked yesterday. Like someone mentioned up there ^, Revolve had the Denimbirds marked down to $85 like a month or two ago. They still have the baggy/narrow one for that price in limited size and a dry black one.

litebrite, I finally get to see those on you! It's a real shame that Nudie/DB doesn't use button fly for all the dry denim, it'd make it so much easier, imo.

your post just made me order the same pair!
and azia...I got these from Womens Clothing
the code toutie gives you 10% off and there's free shipping to the US (making the total $156.60). I'm not sure if they ship to Canada though.
femme thanks for the compliment!

inwonderland... yeah button fly would be nice indeed! ahhh this post is making me want to work on those jeans. perhaps i'll start wearing them around the house in an effort to help them stretch out.

feifei.. pics when you get the jeans! and definitely tell us how it compares to denimbirds...
I had denimbirds that I sold to Adrian...I gained weight and they were too tight. Definitely size up 1. They fit me like Fei's did before I got fat! I posted pics somewhere on the forum, can't find my post though.

I want Nudie SSKs, but I know I wouldn't look as awesome as Bizzy does in hers.
Yeah Denimbirds you gotta buy TIGHT. Now they fit absolutely perfect so I'm really happy I took the girls suggestion to buy them that tight. I wear a 28/29 R&R 29 SFAM and I had to buy a 31 Denimbirds (the 32 fit perfect but she said they'd stretch).

Sorry I've only got butt shots-but you can see that they did stretch out alot because when I first bought them I could JUST button them up and there was some serious muffin toppage. Denimbirds do have more stretch in them than Nudies do-so watch that.

I bought mine at Lark 8th Ave in Vancouver for $200-but I've been some of the non-dry Denimbirds at stores like Plenty here for $300 :S
post #23 of 141
oh they also have denimbirds at Welcome to Catwalk
they used to have a lot of styles at revolve but not anymore (and you could use the 30% off coupon)
^Yeah they used to have all the dry Denimbirds styles (bootcut, straight, skinny....) but now it looks like they're selling a lot more of their "prewashed" denim instead.
i got the super slim kims today! holy shit they are tight. i decided to size down one from the denimbirds since the denimbirds (sz 27) and got a 26 instead. i'm normally a size 25. i never had such a major muffin top and butt ridges before. i literally had to suck in and lie on my bed to get these on. I'll take pics once i don't look so much like an overstuffed sausage.
