What to do with beat up designer shoes and bags?

I have a couple of pairs of Jimmy Choos and Manolos that I've worn into the ground, with beat up soles and scratched or flaking leather. Same with handbags - I have a couple that are ridiculously grungy and straps are falling apart. I'd be embarassed to try and sell them on Ebay, with them being in such bad shape, but for some reason I feel weird just dropping off these items at the Goodwill (or trash!) as well? So they end up taking space in my closet because I can't get rid of them. What do you guys do?

I'm sure someone here is looking for a great bargain

My closet can be your donation bin

But maybe you can donate them to a women's shelter? You'll get a nice tax write off and those poor women can have something nice =)

put them on ebay for .99, thats what i do. you never know how high something will go unless you try
post #6 of 39
you can try selling them on here for the cost of a tank of gas.. if they dont sell then donate them! =)

If you take them to a good leather tailor, they may be able to be refurbished?

You guys are too funny! I'm not sure if they can be refurbished; maybe they can. I'm too lazy to find out. I'll think about putting them up on here or Ebay, they just look so shoddy I feel bad! I must be the only person that treats their designer goods so poorly!

what size do you wear? I take all of my crappy shoes to a cobbler and they come back good as new

try to sell them here then donate to goodwill

I'm sure tons of people would love cheap designer items on here even if they are well loved.

I agree!

there is actually a market on ebay for things like this

Did you ever see used socks and used shoes auctions. BLECH..
If you ever wanted to go that route.

I would sell them here.. I know there would be interest.

used SOCKS...wtf?
I'd also suggest a good cobbler who might be able to help you, if you put vibram soles on the bottom of the shoes it'll definitely make them last longer. I'm not sure if you work in the city but I think there's a cobbler in San Francisco that people recommend -Anthony's Shoe Service.

you can take it to any shoe place and get the soles and taps redone for like $20!
as for the bags.. keep them..they're not old or dirty, just dearly loved.

^ I'm amazed too! Why would people want to buy worn and used socks when they can get news ones for the same price. Clothing and shoes I understand, but socks??? o.O

oooo- what type of bags are they? yeah- you should list them here. if they're good prices I'm sure they will sell.

"well worn white pantyhose for 51.00"
See, girls! A completely new side of ebay that y'all didnt know about

I really think you should sell your beat up stuff here... You know what they say.. One persons junk is anothers treasure

OMG - who knew I could make so much money selling my "well worn" socks...that is perhaps the most bizarre thing i have seen in my life. i would have thrown these shoes away, but they ended for $46:
eBay: TOP SUPREME super well worn enchanting KEDS sneakers (item 200080709812 end time Feb-24-07 15:01:29 PST)
why don't people go to Goodwill if they have a thing for used shoes- is the picture of the model part of the fetish? its pretty obvious by the number of used shoes she has that she didn't wear them all out herself.
