Oh and the only thing to fix the waist is either wear a belt or bring them to a tailor for getting the waist taken in.

I would make sure you can find a GOOD tailor first, because I've heard too many horror stories. I do my own hemming, but if you can't sew you have to take them to a tailor. I would bring the jeans with me and try them on with the tailor. I would do a original hem and keep the extra incase the tailor screws up....Um let me find you a link that someone else gave me for great instructions on how to do a original hem. I'll be back...oh and I'll also find my post about taking the waist in, I had pics of me taking them out and theres a before pic of what it looks like when its taken in....be back

Hi here's a link sent to me. Hope it helps.
DaciaRay.com » How to Hem Jeans
This helped me TONS!! Tell the tailor NOT to cut the excess that way if they end up too short after you wash them or if the tailor just plain screws up that you can take it back out

Here's a inside pic of jeans that had the waist taken in. I bought these like this. I didn't like them because I needed them bigger anyway and also thought the whole butt on me looked weird with it taken in, because the right way to take a waist in is to start the taper at the crotch seam and slowly taper up to how much you need the waist in....that will make the back pockets go in more at the top after the waist is taken in. But this may look good on you, I don't know? The tailor that did these was pretty good in my opinion....Just make sure that tailor doesn't cut ANYTHING...he/she should be able to take the waist in with ONLY cutting the waist band in the back, the crotch seam shown here was not cut that was why I was able to take it back out.

I hope this all helps you!! Hemming is really easy if you have a machine, you just have to be able to sew a straight line, the tailored waist is the really tricky stuff IMO
