Siwy is celebrating their Ten Year Anniversary with the launch of their Anniversary Capsule Collection! Siwy teamed up with ten East and West coast “it-girls” to create a unique collection that epitomizes it as an LA brand with NY attitude. Arden Wohl, Byrdie Bell, Chelsea Leyland, Christina Caradona, Cory Kennedy, Courtney Trop, Jenny Ong, Kelly Ash, Marianna Hewitt, and Mia Moretti are the girls the brand chose to create the unique capsule collection.
Each girl designed one piece for the capsule collection showing off her personal style while utilizing Siwy’s denim prowess. “We are very excited to create a limited edition collection with the amazing girls involved. They all have their unique style and we created a line that captured the individuality of each” says Jimmy Taverniti, creative director of Siwy. The initial concept was simple. “We wanted to celebrate our birthday with a bang” said Alain Lafourcade, COO of Siwy. “We do great with novelty denim so we thought, why don’t we work with girls that are style driven and do a capsule collection?” The idea grew from there. The Siwy design team held in-person meetings and skype sessions with each of the collaborators to discuss fit, wash, fabrication, treatment and other elements in creating each piece.
The ten-piece capsule collection expresses the unique personalities of each participant and includes an assortment of jeans, trousers, a dress, an overall, a jumpsuit, and of course a jogger. The pieces are also named after girls further infusing their personality into each garment. The majority of the jeans incorporate a high waist to provide a vintage, chic feeling.
Mia Moretti created a boyfriend jean with a 12” rise with a resin rinse (Moretti Big Daddy) and Chelsea Leyland went for a high waisted slim crop fit without front pockets (Chelsea Dreaming). Jenny from Neon Blush decided on an 11” high rise waist with a slouchy-straight fit (Amy Neon Blush) and Byrdie Bell opted for a high-waisted acid wash denim (Byrdie Seduction). There are two trousers in the mix that are both drop crotch styles and come in a medium camel shade with a dark brown trim (Fiona Always Judging) and a crimson velvet to add a touch of luxury (Fiona Trop Rouge).
Arden Wohl created the singular dress in the collection. Made with lightweight fabric and inspired by a vintage silhouette, her simple wash keeps the integrity of denim’s natural color (Arden Gems). Providing an antiquated feel with a contemporary minimal look, Kelley Ash’s lightweight cotton overall (Kelley Wild One) and Cory Kennedy’s jumpsuit (Cory Believe in Me) provide an alternative to denim pants. Last but not least, blogger Marianna’s high waisted jogger (Reilly La La Mer) completes the collection; combining comfort and style, the jogger is perfect for a smooth transition between day and eveningwear. Price points for the collection range from $150-$375 and is available at Ron Herman, siwydenim.com and Shopbop.com. What do you think of the collection?

Los Angeles based denim brand Siwy has just announced that denim designer, Jimmy Taverniti, is the new creative director. Bringing his vast expertise and experimental denim treatments, the Spring/Summer 2016 collection will be Taverniti’s inaugural debut for Siwy. He will be overseeing the design process of Siwy and is excited to be on board the new team.
“We are excited to have a man who really can create something that’s never existed” says Alain LaFourcade, COO of Siwy. “Taverniti is a true visionary, and not just with denim. He is well versed in all fabric textures/techniques and is a master of his craft. He is here to invest in Siwy’s future.”
“This is a great opportunity for me to work with Siwy and their team of denim experts. Their respect for their workers, using environmental friendly washes, and the belief in luxury craft are completely in sync with mine” said Taverniti. “I’m looking forward to elevating Siwy in a modern and ethical way.”
Also known as an alchemist, Taverniti is well versed in combining and utilizing fabrics such as cotton, viscose, silk, denim, and leather to their full potential with various processes of garment dyes and innovative washes. The indigo dye, natural pigments, discoloration, and organic dye are just some of the effects pioneered by Taverniti.
Before joining Siwy denim, Taverniti launched his own line, “Taverniti So Jeans,” in 2004. The exclusive denim collection allowed him to apply his vintage expertise to a contemporary line and provided him the opportunity to further explore his imaginative and cutting-edge curiosities.
Bringing his extensive denim proficiency and inventive creativity to the Siwy label, Taverniti’s feminine, vintage chic aesthetic can be seen throughout his designs. “He has solidified a strong foundation that resonates with the Siwy customer” says LaFourcade.
– So, what do you Siwy fans think about Jimmy coming on board and spicing things up?
Christina Milian got caught by the paparazzi while she was out and about in West Hollywood, California so instead of hiding, she posed for them.
Christina wore a pair of Siwy Ladonna skinny jeans in La Femme with a black top, a black furry vest, black boots and a black bag. I’m usually a huge fan of black and white outfits, but I don’t think the proportions are right here. I think the boots are too high and more white is needed, in my opinion. What do you think? Do you like it? You can buy these jeans online from Siwy for $220.
