Nudie has released some amazing new styles this season. Out of the many, these are my top choices. The washes range from for worn to washes that are ready for you to wear in yourself.
What I find amazing about the shirts is that they are not just the generic button up fit. Nudie went a little further and tailored the pieces to make them slimmer and smarter looking. Even with the distressing they can easily be worn in a dressier way. Another piece that appeals to me strongly is their Sonny jacket. It is a fresh take, but it still feels classic. For this months styling post for SSENSE, I wanted to change it around and do something for the guys. I usually style a lot of ladies looks, but I love men’s fashion just as much as I do women’s, so I had fun creating this casual look around a pair of Nudie Tight Long John jeans. I chose these jeans for the base of the outfit as they are such a classic raw denim colour which goes with anything and Nudie always provide a great fit, in my opinion.
I decided to pair the jeans with a Marc by Marc Jacobs Heather Grey Leather Trimmed Thompson Sweatshirt, some Common Project Low Tops in Burgundy, a Neil Barrett Burgundy Wool Knit Beanie and a Maison Martin Margiela Brass Spiral Ring.
Burgundy is always my favourite colour for Winter and I think it looks just as good on men as it does on women, if not better, so that’s why I added some colour to the look with the sneakers and beanie. The sweatshirt is also another favourite of mine, when I saw it I could definitely envision many outfits as it’s such a simple yet beautiful piece of clothing. Grey marl is very versatile and I think the black leather detailing makes it that little bit more structured so it looks more smart than casual. I added the ring in just as a finishing touch, but I know male jewellery is great for some and not for others, so of course it’s optional. Would you wear a look like this?
I went to go see the new Spring/Summer 2013 collection for Nudie at their Showroom on Melrose. Right when I walked in it felt so inviting. The first thing that happened when I walked through the door was a kind greeting by Ruari. He has to be one of, if not, the nicest people that I have ever met.
I have to say that I was really surprised at what I saw in the new collection. The main surprise was that they had color. I never would have expected this from a brand that specializes in raw and selvedge denim. Along with the colors, they also had washes that are the heart of the brand, like raw and worn in washes.
It wasn’t just jeans this season either. Everyone needs to freshen up their wardrobe every now and then. This season they introduced their slim khakis in muted shades and a few non-denim pieces such as shirts, jackets (suede and parka were my favorites), and sweaters. It didn’t just end with the clothes, they also had a few accessories that were pretty amazing. There were beanies and bags (duffle and backpack) that Nudie fans would definitely love.
Another thing that I find really cool about the showroom is that they also have a repair station on site. So if you wore your raw jeans out a bit too far, you have a specialist close by (if you are in LA of course) to patch them for you. You can see photos from my day with Nudie below.

It looks like Zac Efron missed his Nudie jeans. He was caught in a worn in pair during his arrival at LAX Airport in Los Angeles, California. I think these jeans fit him great. I also like that he wore chukkas. I am such a fan of those shoes. They dress the look up just enough.
Zac is looking quite slim here. I read somewhere though that he did not favor his body when he was bigger. I wonder if one of the reasons was that he missed all his jeans before he bulked up. I know I would and I have when I was bigger. You can click here to purchase Nudie jeans at Singer22.
