The past couple of years I have done winter looks for women with white jeans, but this time around I am doing looks for the men and on the other end of the spectrum. I chose classic pairs from J Brand, Paige and Nudie to do looks that will suit any guy whether he is into something smarter or more casual and one look that is in-between. See the outfits that I came up with below.
This look is with a pair of the J Brand Mick Skinny in Black. I wanted to keep in theme of what J Brand pushes for when it comes to their men’s line and that is something that is clean and smart, so I started off by pairing the jeans with a cable knit turtleneck by H&M. I then chose a jacket by Lanvin to layer over for added warmth and a cap by Gents Co. to help bring in a slight streetwear vibe, but not one to take away from the clean feel. As I pictured this look to have the jeans worn cuffed, I chose a pair of boots by Grenson as they helped carry on a smart feel to finish it off.
For my look that was in the center of the three, I went for the Paige Croft Skinny in Black Shadow. They are a cut that works so well with a look just like this. As it is an outfit that is a mix of casual and smarts, I paired them with a t shirt by Margeila and a pair of Vans Old Skool sneakers. To elevate the combination, I choose a trench by Burberry and sunglasses by Raen as they bring in an English vibe when paired together.
The Nudie Tight Long John in Black Heat is the perfect piece for something that is super casual, especially when the hem is chopped off like I did with this pair. For this look, I wanted to go for a layered double denim outfit. We usually see double denim with at least one piece in a blue wash, but I wanted to keep in theme with the post and wanted to keep all the denim pieces in black, which is why I chose this Diesel jacket to layer over a hoodie by Reigning Champ. To finish it off, I went for a cap by Undefeated and a pair of the J. Crew x Vans Sk8-Hi sneakers.
-How many of you are donning looks like this for the season?
For this month, I wanted to do looks for the men and I don’t style blue jeans much as very rarely I find a pair of blues that have the dreamy quality. However, the Nudie Tight Long John in Deep Abyss is just that as the first time I saw them my eyes widened. Everything from the perfect fit and tonal stitching to the fades and richness of the blue/black wash, they are all around one of the best blues that I have seen to date. See the looks that I came up with below.
I love monochromatic blue, almost more that than an all black look at times and I wanted to go for that with this look here. I also wanted to do something with a David Beckham vibe as he has always been one of my favorite people to see in double denim. I paired the jeans with a RRL denim shirt to layer over a James Perse t shirt because, I think, we don’t see two pieces of dark denim paired together often. I always find it to be very smart looking. Then to finish off the clean look, I chose one of my favorite boots from Loake 1880 and a hat by Brixton.
I always feel that a casual look is necessary and something with pieces that many guys probably already have in their closets. A look like this is classic and I am sure every guy is comfortable in when they wear it. I paired the jeans with a t shirt from Stussy and a Simon Miller flannel to layer over. To add some warmth to the look, I added a beanie by Beam Plus and of course a pair of the Vans Sk8-Hi sneakers to pull it all together.
This look here has a more street vibe. I chose to pair the jeans with the brown colorway of the YEEZY 950 boots because, I find, the brown to complement the blue in the jeans really well. I then chose a simple white t shirt by James Perse as the J. Crew sweater has a statement print. To finish it all off, I went for my favorite hat by Gents Co.
We are starting to get more sightings of Nudie jeans again, which I just love. I have a pair of the Lean Deans that I have been wearing the past month and can’t get enough of them. They just make such amazing jeans and I already have another style that I am thinking about getting as I just love the Long Johns. How many of you are happy to see Nudie back on DenimBlog? For this review, I will be talking about the Nudie Lean Dean in Dry Cold Black. I have been slowly gravitating back to stiffer/thicker denim that have as little stretch as possible lately and I looked no further than Nudie as I have been a fan of their jeans for quite some time. I also love the story behind the label as they focus on the authenticity and heritage of wear…even with their pre-worn washes. Plus they have a variety of fits to choose from, so I wasn’t limited to the typical straight leg fit and having to go through the wet molding process for the custom fit.
I went with a size 28 in these as that was the smallest size on the site that I ordered them from. I am usually a 27 in Nudies, but a 28 worked just fine compared to my usual 27 that I go for with the Tight Long John. They are 100% cotton, so they stretched out a tad, but not enough to merit the necessity of going two sizes down. They actually stretched out to the perfect fit at the waist and are quite comfortable after the two weeks of wearing.
The length is a bit long at 34″, but that is expected. Though they weren’t as long as I thought they were going to be. I initially thought they were going to swallow me with the stacking, but they actually don’t and ended up being a good length for the cut on me as it helps balance out the slimness a bit.
The fabric was the main reason why I chose these jeans. Like I stated earlier, I have been gravitating towards a pair of jeans that were on the thicker side for multiple reasons. One being the weather and two being that brands lately have lost the main focus of what denim is. Many have leaned towards how much they can push the stretch factor and fashion trends which has taken away from the fabric that we all know and love.
Being 100% cotton, I have found that they even still have better retention and retraction than some of my stretch jeans. As they don’t have the stretch that can lead to bagging due to the strain that stretch goes through over time and they also don’t have any slipping due to the softness that stretch tends to cause.
The fabric definitely has a good hand to it. They are gentle against the skin compared to other 100% cotton that I have tried over the years. It just adds to the comfort of wearing them daily as they don’t feel abrasive against my skin.
Overall, If you are looking to try a pair of jeans that are classic to the heritage of denim, these are ones to try. They definitely brought back my appreciation to denim and have me excited to see the story that it will create as I wear them in. You can click here to purchase these jeans from EAST DANE.
