Since Summer has just arrived on our doorsteps, the denim jacket trend is in full swing. Celebs from Jessica Alba and Alessandra Ambrosio to Cameron Diaz and Katie Holmes have all been caught rocking their denim jackets and they have all chosen varied styles. Diana Agron opted for a white take on the trend while Demi Lovato toughened her look up with some spikes at the shoulders. Alessandra Ambrosio chose a cropped sleeve look while Keira Knightley picked a stone wash option. Mila Kunis, Katie Holmes, Jessica Alba and Cameron Diaz on the other hand, opted for the classic blues ranging from mid to dark.
I own quite a few denim jackets myself and I wear them as frequently as I can. The best thing about them is their versatility. You can pair them with your jeans as long as you pick a different colour denim, so you don’t have to sacrifice your love for jeans at all. If you do want to switch it up however, you can easily throw one over a floral dress in the day time or team it with a pair of printed or coloured pants. The denim jacket is a basic essential that is always a must have in my opinion.
Below I have chosen 18 denim jackets, all in a variety and variation so there is something for everyone. I have selected 6 premium denim styles from the likes of J Brand, Rag & Bone etc, but I’ve also chosen 6 more affordable options from stores like Topshop, Mango and more and to make things more bold I have chosen 6 fun denim jackets in neons, prints and colours from brands like Current/Elliott, Textile Elizabeth and James, Topshop and others! January Jones puts gas in her car before heading on her way to run errands. Earlier in the week, January attended the MET Ball wearing a stunning yellow Versace dress.
While back in LA, she wore another pair of MiH jeans. She switched it up and wore a pair of Tokyo Stripy pants, which are a more relaxed slim leg pair. The stripe pattern is sort of reminiscent of seersucker and it makes these great for summer. You can buy them online from MiH for $194.
MiH recently did a collaboration of classic shirts with Net-A-Porter. Everyone needs that perfect shirt to pair with their jeans, don’t they? They have a style for every style preference that will sure be worn numerous times when they are owned. The fabrics range from silk to chambray. Which is a pretty big gap, but I am sure that they are all as soft as silk and no difference would be noticed.
My favorite styles would have to be the Birkin and the Silk Oversized Shirt. I think those two are just so classic. They also have styles that are more fun like the Circle Chambray shirt above and the Crepe Ferret Shirt. These are sure to be popular with all the MiH fans and you can get a piece (or pieces) for yourself at Net-A-Porter by clicking here.
Here are some photos from the MiH Jeans Autumn/Winter 2012 Press Day in London, England from late in March. Unfortunately, due to the schedule of other press events and MiH being quite far away, I wasn’t able to attend. Hopefully I can next time as I missed out on seeing the new collection pieces in person. I did however get these photos from the day directly from MiH so we can still see the new styles and how everything looked. I’ve also included some info on it from MiH below.
We’re inspired by the hazy cool sea this Autumn Winter. By northern beaches. Rough waves. The shore. A white out of ocean colours. The winter surfers. The endless horizon. Autumn-Winter 2012. Our girl finds confidence in simplicity. In creating her own style. The calm, raw, timeless feel of the sea. Of the clouds. Of the beach. The sharp cold northern light. The elements can be seen in a bleached out colour palette of winter whites, chalks and creams; mixed with dark neutrals – grey, chocolate, navy. Contrasting with deep hues of hunter green, teal and rose red, with the palest sea greens and soft pinks. The delicate intangible prettiness of the Seafoam print.
It’s inspired us to put the odd sportswear detail in the collection. The Surfer Tee. The Pinny Tee. Sporty yet delicate. Later you’ll throw on our layers of knitted Donegal wools. Or the Guernsey Jumper. The one you’ll never take off. We have confidence in cool vintage denims. The Jane. The Topanga. The Phoebe. Real denims. The new masculine/feminine. Directional denim. The Casablanca. The flare for flats. The Brighton Jean. The jean for when you want to wear a little black trouser; but in denim. Our icons come through. In the Silver Biker. Patti Smith. In the perfect long shirts and men’s inspired wool blazers. Lauren Hutton. Effortless. Luxury.
