Earnest Sewn
Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen in Custom-Fitted Earnest Sewn
Well this is a rare sighting to get. Both Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen out at the same time. Both were also donning some custom-fitted Earnest Sewn jeans. Ashley chose a gray pair. While Mary-Kate chose a pair in a faded black wash, which she paired with another pair of Haider Ackermann oxfords.
One thing I love about these two is that they wear their jeans to the death. The details that gets put on their jeans are truly their own. One pair I do wish they didn’t though were the Maxfield’s. Rest In Peace those beautiful jeans. You can click here to purchase Earnest Sewn jeans from their website.
Cameron Diaz in a Levi’s Denim jacket & Earnest Sewn Harlan Jeans
Cameron Diaz was spotted out and about in New York. She wore a Levi’s denim jacket with a pair of Earnest Sewn Harlan jeans in Ursula. I think this is a great look. I like the addition of the red bag.
I still think double denim is an amazing look. I would like to see more people wear it in reverse like Ali Larter did a few weeks back. I love the look of a dark washed denim shirt with a lighter pair of jeans or brown cords or pants. You can click here to purchase Levi’s from their website and here for these jeans from Earnest Sewn for $188.

Earnest Sewn x DenimBlog 30 Day Denim Challenge – Part 4
Here is our last update of progress in a joint post on our Earnest Sewn jeans for the 30 Day Denim Challenge. The next post will be of the finished jeans and we will each do our own post that will document our experience in full and show them from start to finish. We have made quite a few changes to our jeans during this past week and you can see them below.
Lorna
I have slowly been sanding and filing my jeans as the days go on and this morning I actually did a whole lot to them in terms of fading. I’ve been working on them loads and I have faded the areas that have creased up a lot with wear. I’ve gone for a more authentic sort of approach with my jeans as I love classic washes the most. I don’t plan on adding anything to them other than some more fading. I do have some final plans this coming week to do on the back pockets, but I wont mention what that might be just yet. The only thing that bugs me about my jeans at the moment, is still not being able to wash them. Having faded them a lot, they really need to be washed so that the creases are not so contrasted against the dark blue denim. But as I am unable to that, I have plans to lighten up the jeans all over without washing.

As you can see from the photos, my jeans still haven’t really started fading. There is some light discoloration on the seams but nothing very noticeable. However, like Lorna, mine have started to stretch out a lot more since the past few weeks but they’re still very comfortable.
Last week, I mentioned a DIY project that I was working on. I’ve always loved studded and embellished jeans and so I wanted to give these a little embellishment. I found these tiny gold studs and added them along the coin pocket. I’d seen it done in a similar way before, only using larger studs. I thought the smaller ones were not as bold as larger ones and suited my style more. I can’t decide if I want to add some more studs all around the coin pocket (out to the seam) but it may be hard since the denim is so much thicker there. So far I’m really happy with the way it turned out but I haven’t decided if I’ll add more studs elsewhere on the jeans.

I finally took the time out to sand my jeans down. I was getting a bit bummed that they were fading very little from the sun. So I decided to add some distressing myself. I started off with the sanding the whiskering at the hips. I sat down to see where it would crease then sanded those areas. Then I did the back of the knees. This one was a bit trickier, but they came out really well. I then took them off to start sanding the thighs and back of the calves. After all the sanding that I did, I got some scissors and went at it with the scraping. I ripped the edges of the pockets and added a hole under one of the belt loops. I tried doing the knee area, but the jeans weren’t having it. I’m going to attempt that area again in the coming week. I think a tear there would work really well. I am also hoping that the more I wear these jeans the more the sanded area and actual wash of the jeans somehow fade into each other to look more natural. Hopefully it does. You guys can see how that will turn out next week.
Earnest Sewn x DenimBlog 30 Day Denim Challenge – Part 3
Here is our third post on our Earnest Sewn jeans during the 30 Day Denim Challenge. We have had a little more progress than last time and you can see our photos and writing below. Next week we will document our wear in post 4 and then we will each do a final post at the end of the challenge showing the change from start to finish.

I have definitely had an increase in creasing on my jeans, especially in the lap area and behind the knees as you can see in the photos. However I am in the process of helping them along by sanding some of the creases to lighten them up. You can see I have started on the lap area and plan to do more, I’ve also did a little bit on the honeycombs behind the knees, but I am taking it slowly to make them look more authentic rather than do it all in one go and make a mess of things.
They have stretched out a lot and now fit me quite loosely unfortunately, but at least they are comfortable to wear. It’s actually really quite difficult getting these to progress without washing them though. It’s such a shame we are not allowed to get water on them as that would really help with the fades and wearing them in so much. I’m looking forward to working on them during the next week though and seeing how they come along.

This past week, I spent a lot of time traveling and of course, wore my skinny jeans on the plane. I’m really glad that I wore these for travel, since they’re very comfortable. They were stretchy enough while wearing them for a few hours in cramped quarters, it wasn’t uncomfortable and they still looked really polished.
Thus far, they’re still retaining their color nicely and have only slight fading in regularly creased areas. I’m working on a little customization project and will show pictures of it when I finish up!

Not much has changed so far besides a little natural fading from the sun. They are a bit lighter. Not enough though to tell from the photo. Only if you look up close in person. I have distressed the edges and sanded the the creases a bit after I took this photo. Being on the looser side has definitely detoured the creasing from holding. I am going to wear the jeans in for the next week to give the dye some time to bleed into the detail to give them a more natural fading. Hopefully they turn out the way I want them by next week and that you guys like them.
