Denim Review: DL1961 Emma in Bloom
This weeks review of mine is on the brand new DL1961 Emma skinny jeans in Bloom, which are part of their new DLpro fabric range. I was very intrigued to do this review as I have numerous others pairs of DL1961 jeans and I was interested to know how this new DLpro fabric would be in comparison to their other denim.
DL1961′s New Fabric – DLpro
DL1961 has always been known for its Xfit fabric which had a 4 way stretch, making their jeans retain their shape and fit you perfectly, but now they have come out with a brand new denim fabric; DLpro. The brand has taken denim to the next level by combining the Xfit lycra, lenzing modal and tencel fibers, creating the ultimate fit, shape and feel.
This new fabric means the jeans have 99% shape retention, while maintaining an extremely lightweight fabric which is not only breathable, but beautiful at the same time. This new technology gives their denim the power stretch element which everyone loves in a pair of jeans for comfort, but they won’t become baggy or loose with wear like a lot of lighter weight fabrics can.
The DLpro fiber is also 50% more absorbent than cotton, which gives it a gorgeous silk sheen and the ability to mould to the body better than most denim. You can check out some of the key styles in the gallery below and watch a slide show/shop the styles by clicking here. What do you think of the new denim?
DL1961 Fall 2013
DL1961 kicked off their Spring 2013 runway show during New York Fashion Week with a choreographed dance routine to Diamonds by Rihanna. The models then walked the catwalk showcasing the brand’s new denim which featured super skinny jeans in an array of different jewel tones.
They also featured hip zippers, colour blocking, quilting on their leathers, metallics and even classic blues with distressing. The denim collection was paired with gorgeous essentials like fitted blazers, leather peplum and loose fitted shirts which gave the looks a glamourous, yet really chic vibe.
After the models had shared the new styles, the dancers took to the stage again for a closing number. This was definitely one of the most fun shows I have watched during New York Fashion Week. It was inventive, quirky and just a pleasure to watch! You can watch the live stream video by clicking here and you can see the photos in the gallery below.
Styling the Hazel in Speedster by DL1961
DL1961 asked us to style their new motorcycle jeans, the Hazel in Speedster. These jeans are a new take on their classic motorcycle trend. They have details such as ribbing at the thigh and zippers in a clean super skinny silhouette.
Even though these jeans are a standout piece of their own, I found that you can still go graphic with the look by pairing them with contrasting black and white. I decided to do the contrasting part with the tops by pairing together a DressedUndressed turtleneck under a Tibi silk camisole. I finished it off with a pair of Balenciaga ankle boots. Another reason why I chose this type of layering, over the usual coat, is because it is a bit unexpected. It sounds like it shouldn’t work, but looks very chic when worn. How many of you will be layering your looks like this with these jeans?
