Diesel Spring/Summer 2013 Press Day – Women’s
Yesterday I had the pleasure of seeing the new Diesel Spring/Summer 2013 collection at their press day which was held at their headquarters in London. Battling the heavy rain and strong winds was worth it to see the new styles. Everything I saw was so different to what I am used to and it was such a refreshing change! This post features the women’s collection and there will be a men’s post to follow. As the press day was centered mostly around the women’s styles, there wasn’t a large amount of men’s on display, but there were some key pieces and styles which I will show in another post.
Olivia Wilde in a Diesel Denim Jacket
Olivia Wilde took her doggy Paco with her while she was on the coffee run at Blue Bottle cafe in New York City. She gave Paco a hug and a kiss before entering the shop to get her drink. How absolutely gorgeous is he? I think he’s a beautiful dog!
For their stroll together, Olivia wore a Diesel denim jacket with some black skinny jeans, ankle boots and a long knitted vest over a striped t-shirt. I have to say that this outfit is actually really reminiscent of Diesel’s style. When I see this, putting aside the Diesel logo on the jacket, I automatically think it looks like something from their look book. I love the layering of the vest and the wash of the jacket is really nice. But then I expect nothing less from Diesel. You can buy women’s Diesel clothes online at SSENSE.

DenimBlog x SSENSE Top 5 Picks
J Brand Black Beatnik Combo Jeans
This month I got to choose my top 5 picks from SSENSE. With the seasons changing, I was really excited to pick out some new pieces for fall.
One of my favorite trends for fall is mixed materials. I chose these J Brand Black Beatnik Combo jeans. They have leather panels on the knees, which is a great way to wear the leather trend if you don’t want to invest in full on leather pants. They’re very versatile and would look great paired with a chunky sweater and boots.
Next, I chose R13′s Skinny Dark jeans. I picked these jeans because I love how they have a slim leg but fit a little looser and have a more casual vibe. I think they look especially cute when they’re rolled up.
For guys, I chose Diesel’s Safado jeans in Dark Green. The Safado is a great slim fit for guys. What really stood out to me about these jeans was the wash. Colored denim is catching as a trend for men and the dark green is a great option for fall.
Diesel X Serpentine Gallery Future Contemporaries Party 2012
The Serpentine Gallery and Diesel, in association with Silencio, presented a line-up of live acts for their Future Contemporaries Party which was held last week. The annual fundraiser took place on 17 September 2012 in the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion which was designed by Herzog & de Meuron and Ai Weiwei.
The Party brought together the new generation of artists, philanthropists, collectors and opinion formers to raise funds for the Serpentine Gallery’s acclaimed art, architecture, design, education and public programmes.
The Kills headlined the event in front of the white columns of the Serpentine Gallery, and against the backdrop of the Herzog & De Meuron and Ai Weiwei’s visionary Pavilion. Earlier, in the pavilion’s canopy, Chicago duo Wild Belle performed a set of breezy pop hooks and island rhythms. There were also DJ sets from France-based Brodinski and London-based Trevor Jackson, who has worked with Soulwax and The Doves. They were joined by resident DJ at Silencio Erik Rug.
Food was created by Isaac McHale of The Young Turks and Daniel Willis of The Clove Club, alongside a bespoke cocktail menu created especially for the event by Rob McHardy Bar Manager from Silencio Paris and wine from Bibendum.
Some of the guests included: Nicholas Kirkwood; Amber Le Bon; Kate Moss; Kelly Osbourne; Liberty Ross; Renzo Rosso; Louie Spence; Harry Styles; Princess Eugenie of York; Sarah, Duchess of York and lots lots more! You can see some of the photos in the gallery below! It looks like it was an amazing event!
