Diesel Black Gold Autumn/Winter 2012
The Diesel Black Gold menswear collection walked the runway in Milan, Italy yesterday with a celebrity front row. A-list Actors Stephen Dorff and Luke Evans were among those taking the front row seats and looked amazing.
The new Autumn/Winter 2012 collection from the brand was filled with metallics, suiting, velvet and of course, leather. It wouldn’t be a Diesel Black Gold show without the leather! The colour palette for the runway show consisted of dark shades in black, navy, purples and browns, but they also had brights in the shades of red, orange and blue. What I love most about Diesel Black Gold is that the clothes are very unisex, they also featured a female model wearing some of the new styles. I have included some of the info about the collection below.
A dreamer, a biker, a fighting musician in a life of perpetual movement across situations and frontiers. Diesel Black Gold FW’12 collection harkens back to Diesel’s roots, emphasizing and expressing the free soul of this metropolitan hero with military construction and vintage biker looks.
G arments are challenging yet classic – an entertaining clash of styles. Key items include stretch velvet suits, pony skin peacots, bomber jackets combining leather and felt through needle punch. Leather is crucial and it’s combined also with knitwear.
L oose fit and high waist pants are matched with super light & shiny nylon trench with metallic details; utility elements give garments a dynamic yet though feeling, such as the 3-D effect on knitwear. Seventies cuts are the last touch for the Diesel Black Gold contemporary man, who doesn’t forget his being a modern dandy looking for sophisticated treatments.
C olor palette ranges from black and anthracite to navy blue, tobacco, eggplant and brilliant red. Denim has its own space with 5 pockets fully hand-crafted in Okayama and Los Angeles with a traditional process, to express the real vintage look. The jeans lover will find also coated denim, or thermo-tape and flock details providing an alternative, “rock-chic” elegance to casual attires.
Blake Lively in Diesel
It seems like Blake Lively is the most recent celeb to get bitten by the Diesel bug. She wore her Grupee skinny jeans in 887A with a pair of boots, over sized scarf and a Diesel L-Sienna leather jacket (from the Spring 2012 pre-collection) as she battled the cold in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
I think her outfit is an example of such a great way to wear layers and stay warm, but still look chic while doing it. I also love these jeans on Blake! This is the first time we’ve seen her in Diesel so hopefully she’ll try other pairs. You can buy these jeans online from Diesel.com.

Ashley Tisdale in Diesel & Vanessa Hudgens in One Teaspoon
It’s nice to see best friends Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens out together again! We used to spot them doing shopping with each other all the time, but we don’t so much anymore more. They were seen leaving Ralphs Supermarket in Los Angeles, California and then later met up with Vanessa’s boyfriend, Austin Butler, to pick out a Christmas tree.
Usually when we spot Ashley, she never looks too happy to see the paps, but it looks like she doesn’t care about them when she’s with Vanessa. I guess they have too much of a good time to care! Ashley wore a pair of her old jeans, her Diesel Matic 8SH skinny jeans. It’s been ages since I have seen these! I haven’t worn mine in over a year or more either. Vanessa wore a pair of One Teaspoon Stevie Flares. I remember when they used to dress really similar, you can see the difference in their style now from a mile away! Buy these online at ASOS.com.

Denim Review: Diesel Jegonfire 880A Moto Jeggings
This weeks review is on a pair of Diesel Jegonfire 880A Moto Jeggings. I chose these jeans because they are so different to the Diesel styles that I usually go for. I loved the look of them when I saw them in the store after seeing the new collection in London. They just stood out at me and I fell in love with them right away! These jeans are courtesy of Diesel UK.
The fit of these jeans is really nice. It’s super skinny, just as a jegging should be and it has a lower rise as well as being super comfortable. One thing that I have always loved about Diesel is the fact that they had different cuts and each of those cuts would fit differently all over, so the back pockets would be different as well. That always made the brand so versatile because if one cut didn’t work on your butt (instead of it being like most brands, if you don’t like the back pockets then all of the styles wont suit you) it’s completely different, you can try all of the cuts and one will work for you.
I used to be the biggest fan of Matic and Lowky as well as Nevy and Cuddy, but since those are going to be no longer available, I’m happy that I found these. I will be honest in saying these are definitely not as nice on my butt as Matic or Nevy though, the pocket placement isn’t as low down as on those two cuts, so I find these not as flattering on my butt as those, but in general, if I wasn’t comparing them to an old Diesel cut, I would be happy with how they fit me. They are flattering, especially from the front! As for sizing, I took a size 27 in these and I am usually between a 27 and 28 in normal Diesel jeans, but because they are so stretchy and lightweight, a 27 fits me really well.
The 880A wash is what grabbed my attention with these jeans. If I am honest, I never gave these a second look on the Diesel website, I glanced straight past them as I thought the wash looked too grainy and light so that put me off of them. I didn’t actually realise in the store that these were the same jeans I had seen online, that’s how different the online photos look to the actual jeans. I’m so glad I saw these in store instead because I am in love with them!
The wash is a mid blue but it has a lot of lighter and darker areas all over it. They are in the correct places though, like the lighter areas are on the knees and on the butt so it gives the illusion that they are worn in a bit and faded in those areas, as those are areas that fade the most. These also have subtle whiskering at the lap area which always adds more detail and depth to a wash in my opinion. I love the small distressed patches on these too, they are scattered around the jeans, but one of the things that I fell in love with the most with this wash was the hole at the knee. The right leg has a rip and I have always found that virtually impossible to find on a moto style jean. Purely because the moto jeans have so much knee detail already, adding rips can sometimes be too much, but not on these. I think it really makes them unique!
The front pockets on these remind me of miniature versions of the old Hush style pockets. They are really cute! Also the signature Diesel coin strip is much smaller on these so it doesn’t stand out as much. I love the moto style stitching at the knees on these too. It reminds me a lot of how c.r.a.f.t denim have their stitching. They have two full lines, one above the knee and one below and then the middle line is split so it’s just 2 short lines from each seam. The back patch is also made from bronze coloured sequins so that adds a feminine touch to them.
Overall I think these jeans are amazing and I am so glad that Diesel finally came out with jeggings! These are so comfortable and soft as well as being really pretty and detailed! Plus, these are one of Diesel’s lower priced jeans so you can’t ask for more than that! I’ve worn them quite a few times, even to the cinema and I only ever wear comfy jeans to the cinema! Buy these jeans online at Diesel for £120.

Press Day Preview: Diesel Spring/Summer 2012
I got the chance to go to the Diesel Headquarters in London two weeks ago to see all of their new styles and learn more about the new direction they are taking the ladies collection in. Here are some photos from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection for both men and women.
The men’s collection is exactly the same, they haven’t changed anything except they have some new styles and washes like they do every season. They did have some really pretty washes there though. The washes are always what entice me when it comes to Diesel. I find they are experts in getting a really amazing colour and depth to their jeans. Sometimes they can bring out the most beautiful wash ever while other times they have normal shades.
The ladies collection is completely different now. Like I mentioned last week, the line is going in a new direction. They are only having 5 different cuts, soon to be 6, and those cuts are coming in different washes. The labels are different, they are more plain and the jeans are less embellished and branded. They are aiming for more simplicity and femininity. The shoes are all heels and sandals now and they are even doing maxi dresses. It’s changed a lot.
It’s very scary so I hope it does well for them. Luckily the Diesel strip on the coin pocket will always stay there. I know the guys are very fond of Diesel so let me know if you have any questions about the collection, like jeans or washes, and I will try and help you out. I also saw the Autumn/Winter 2012 collection which is even more amazing! I can’t share that with you yet though.
