I now see what Olivier Rousteing is talking about when he said he was taking Balmain back to its couture days. The clothing now looks in harmony with the price range. I do miss all the rips, tears and endless amounts of denim, but couture is the soul of the brand so that is where it should be.
The 2012 Pre-Fall collection had tons of prints, color and of course the classic glitz. There was also no shortage of leather. I think the collection is really great. There are quite a few pieces that I find amazing. The leather pants above are just everything. Trouser pockets, check. Leather, check. Inseam-zipper and motorcycle stitching, double check. My other favorites would have to be the printed pajama pants, all the jackets, and the black long-sleeve dress. I love the graphic at the waist. I would love to see that dress on Zoe Saldana or Kate Bosworth. You can see the full collection below.
Jennifer Lopez is sure loving herself some Balmain. I hope to see her in them some more. She was spotted in another pair by the fashion house. She wore a pair of the Cigarette Burnt Cigarette Jeans to watch O by Cirque Du Soleil in Las Vegas.
This has to be one of my favorite looks on Jennifer. I think she looks amazing in baggier styles, I actually prefer it on her. I find them to be flattering. I also like that she chose these. They were one of my favorite jeans from that season but the leather trousers with the zippers will always be my number one piece that any designer has ever sent down the runway. Jennifer should really pull those back out.
Kanye West was caught making his way in to catch the Lakers vs. Bulls game at the Staple Center in Los Angeles, California. He wore a pair of Balmain jeans with a denim shirt. I think this outfit is one of my favorites from him. Everything fits very well. I also like the way the shirt and the pocket zippers play off each other.
I was so bummed that I missed the chance to go see him and Jay-Z in concert a couple of weeks back. I heard that it was amazing in all aspects from everyone I know that went. What did you guys think of the show to those who went?

The long awaited Pierre Balmain collection is now available for pre-order at Luisaviaroma. Great news about this diffusion line is that the prices range from $120-$2000. Much more affordable for the many Balmainiacs. Both the men’s and women’s collection have the grungier, amazingly tailored aesthetic of previous Balmain designer, Christophe Decarnin. The jeans were faded, distressed and had zippers galore.
For the women, the pieces ranged from a pencil skirt to their classic Balmain zip-jeans. The washes come in white to black and even printed. The men’s collection had a wider range of washes. It had a few great distressed styles and some clean skinny jeans in black to red. They didn’t leave the biker jeans out either. They come in white, black, and red.
