Di-Amanda & Denim…jewelry that is…
Di-Amanda Inc., an Ontario, Canada based company, is really pushing denim to the limit with a new trend. No, I’m not talking about the rise or the leg opening here, not even close. I’m talking about a trend that is just a little bit…well…smaller.
As you’ve already guessed by my very obvious blog title…Di-Amanda is a jewelry company. Their denim themed designs are each hand crafted from .925 silver and many are highlighted by diamonds too. The jewelry comes in all different variations and shapes ranging from pendants to necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings as well. Prices for Di-Amanda items range from as low as $30 for some plainer pieces that you might be able to find on ebay to $1000+ for more heavily jeweled pieces at retail locations.
Owned and operated by D&D Creations, the artistic voice behind the company is none other than famed international jewelry entrepreneur, Airy Ho. Visit D&D online and check out Ho’s designs on the web, as well as locate stores in your area: DD-Creations.com
Di-Amanda and Airy Ho are not the only Denim Jewelry Designers out there though. There are other companies who are following in their path. If you’re into going green, for instance, Denim Designs Jewelry is another manufacturer, that uses recycled denim, crafting blue jeans into solid stone-like pieces. You can visit them on the web at DenimDesignsJewelry.com
Or, if a denim watch is what you are looking for, check out the home made designs from jeanetiks.com (pronounced genetics).
So, what do you think ladies? Are you going to be wearing denim accents on your fingers and lobes? Or maybe you think this is just the thing for your designer-denim-wearing-girlfriend for Valentine’s Day guys? Hmmmmmm…I don’t know…
Paige Premium Denim Brights!
Paige Premium Denim is springing into…Spring! Exclusively available at the National Jean Company are brand new colors in the Skyline Drive Ankle Jean. What do you think of these amazingly BRIGHT shades?
We’ve got Flame
There’s Equator
How about Tropical?
If you are into something a little lighter as we head into the last few weeks of winter, this might be just the thing to put that bounce back in your step. Personally, I think they would look amazing with a cozy cream cashmere cowl neck sweater, or even a woolly black wrap. Throw on a pair of warm wedges and you’re good to go!
If they are a little too summery for you though, grab a pair now while they are available and wear the 5-pocket peg leg style all summer long with your strappy sandals and tanks. They are retailing for $180 and only at National Jean Company with FREE SHIPPING too!
CLOSED Denim – “The Original Product”

Katie Holmes in the Katie, Silvie Van der Vaart in the Pedal Pusher, Sarah Jessica Parker in the Pistol Flare
So it’s been seen on just about everyone from our girls Katie and SJP to Drew Barrymore and even Penelope Cruz too. Closed Denim, founded in Italy and originally created for Postal workers in Germany, might be the next big indie line out there with most every staple jean style you’d care to wear, as well some fun and unexpected items too.
What really sets Closed apart however, is not just its vintage framework or its feel-good working class origins. At least, that’s not what did it for me. While all of that marketing genuis is more than fantastic (and you all know how I love a great ad campaign to get a company on a roll!), what I appreciate even more is actual and genuine design autonomy, exquisite fabrics and true attention to detail. And, lucky for Closed, they’ve nailed it on all accounts in my book.
Calling themselves a “total look” of “sophisticated casualwear”…”a constant dialogue between functionality and innovation,” the Closed brand not only offers denim for women and men, but also some adorable childrens wear, and shoes and accessories too.
Here are some of my favorite denim looks:
So, if you are still not a fan, I encourage you to go and check out the rest of their 2009 Collection at Closed.com, because this is certainly not all they’ve got. Their range of washes, their color palette and their fabric choices are kind of unreal…I mean, start thinking Jil Sander lights (Creative Director for Closed is currently former Jil Sander Designer Sophie Lewis btw…) to DVF brights…dresses, belts, chinos, gladiator sandals, even silk tops…Whatever your passion, they’re doing it nicely over there…
Also, be sure check out our fave Yoox.com for some great buys from the 2008 collection too!
Restoration of the Monarchy – Up for Grabs!
Have you heard of Restoration of the Monarchy? No? Maybe? Sort of?
Well if you’re sticking to no, let me fill you in: Dubbed “ROM” by the powers that be, Restoration of the Monarchy was a much hyped but not so much actually *worn about* denim and t-shirt line headed up by furniture mogul and interior designer Eric Villency–a former model and socialite, who once dated beauty magnate Olivia Chantecaille, and is currently married to the Fox New Live Host Kimberly Guilfoyle (ex-wife of San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsome…)
The line, which featured sexy short jumpers and adorable sailor pants, for whatever reason, just didn’t really pop. It was supposed to retail in places like Scoop and Intermix, and probably did for about 5 minutes, but I never personally never saw it there. I’m not exactly sure why ROM never panned out because, honestly, the whole thing was pretty vibey with a layed back ’70′s feel and Villency himself is loaded with great style and connections in the fashion community to boot. Check out the website at www.restorationofthemonarchy.com for the entire feeling of the brand including a fab ad campaign, and the gorgeous Julia Restoin-Roitfeld (daughter of French Vogue Editor Carine Roitfeld) working it as the collections model and face.
Recently, since we had not seen anything from ROM in about a year or more, we at DenimBlog requested an interview and update, asking Mr. Villency himself to comment on what was up next for the denim line–what we could expect to see in the seasons to come.
Unfortunately, though, the future for ROM is unclear. The team at ROM comments that, ” we are in a period of transition and Restoration of the Monarchy is in contract to be sold and will have new ownership soon.”
I guess furniture and denim don’t mix afterall…
