I’m really pleased to announce with you, hot off the press yesterday, G-Star’s new advertising campaign and they are also organizing a world chess challenge!!!! How exciting is that? You can all take part as well! Please read all of the information below and I hope you enjoy a few of the images.
G-Star’s Fall/Winter 2010 advertising campaign, shot by celebrated photographer Anton Corbijn, combines the intelligence of Norwegian chess prodigy, Magnus Carlsen, with the beauty of model and actress, Liv Tyler.
This combination of contrasting and unexpected elements is one of G-Star’s key philosophies, displayed in runway shows, where destroyed denim pants are often paired with tailored jackets from the Correct Line range; and where iconic and fearless performers, such as Benicio Del Toro, interrupt proceedings to deliver spoken-word pieces in a form of ‘art-hijack.’
Already the world chess number one and described as a ‘Mozart of chess,’ Carlsen has the potential to become a similar level of icon. Becoming a Grandmaster at the age of 13 years and 148 days, Magnus is the youngest player in history to achieve the number one rank and his uncompromising approach to the game mirrors G-Star’s own hardcore design philosophy.
Hollywood actress Tyler perfectly embodies the modern G-Star woman’s combination of toughness with controlled sensuality. Her striking looks and assured, independent style have made her a globally recognized model and fashion icon. Liv returns for her second G-Star campaign, having previously presented the elegant Low-T capsule-collection.
The G-Star Raw World Chess Challenge!
In support of the Fall/Winter 2010 advertising campaign, G-Star will travel to the Cooper Square Hotel in New York City on September 10th 2010, to host a global chess competition: The RAW World Chess Challenge. This challenge gives everyone in the world the opportunity to play Magnus Carlsen, together at once, live on the internet. How exciting is that?

Nicky Hilton took a trip to the Apple store in Los Angeles, California last week in a pair of Dylan George Bella twill shorts. It looks like Nicky has just joined the billions of people in the ipad world as she strolled out with one under her arm. Nicky then stopped at a local Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf while the sun was shining and she looked happy. I think Nicky looks very comfy in her outfit, she dresses a lot like I do when it’s too hot, a pair of shorts and a tank top.

I really adore Dylan George, I fell in love with them when I first tried the Lucy in Czar and I have got lots of pairs since! I definitely recommend the brand, they have such cute and comfy styles! Twilight star Ashley Greene was seen out in New York City yesterday (7) doing some shopping with a friend. She was wearing her J Brand 1041 cuffed boyfriend shorts in Goldrush, which she was seen in before, for the trip. I really love these shorts and I wish I had a pair but they seem to be sold out everywhere! My pair that I originally had were too big on me and looked really silly. I hope I can find another pair soon.
I think Ashley is so beautiful, she has the most prettiest hair and a great figure. I always love her style and the denim that she wears. She seems to be a huge fan of J Brand too, as do a lot of the Twilight cast!
Sorry I didn’t get chance to do a denim review last week! I try to do one every week for you readers but sometimes it’s not possible, I also haven’t included laid down images of the shorts either, just modeled photos. This weeks review is on the Raven Denim cut off boyfriend shorts in Spirit wash. Halle Berry has also been spotted in these shorts in a different wash!
I got these shorts a little while ago (not knowing what to expect as I have never tried Raven Denim before) and I was very suprised! The fit is really good! I wasn’t expecting them to fit as nice as they do as I am always apprehensive about trying new brands as I tend to stick to what works for me and what I like. The pocket placement on these is in the perfect place! It’s always so important to get the pockets in the correct place on the butt as it makes such a different to how jeans fit you. I also love that you can see the pocket lining under the hem of the shorts, I always think that’s cute!
I don’t like jeans or shorts that are really branded so I am pleased with the Raven Denim logo just being a little R on the top right of the right back pocket. It’s unique and you can tell they are Raven Denim when you see this logo but it’s not invasive. Two things I would like to alter if possible, to fit my body and likes more, is the leg opening and the shade of the wash. The leg opening I find a little too big and a little too heavy, I would feel better in these shorts if the denim was a little thinner around the hem as it can get a little puffy. The wash also is a little too light for my taste, it’s a pretty wash but I would love it even more if it was a couple of shades darker or some distressing was put on this wash at the front instead, that would make them perfect!
I actually really like these shorts and I am very impressed with Raven Denim. Since I hadn’t tried them before I am really pleased with how well they fit! They are very flattering and so cute! I hope we see a lot more celebs in these shorts and jeans from the brand too! Buy these shorts at National Jean Company for $153.
