Britney Spears helped her son, Sean, out of the car as they attended a birthday party at Bright Child in Los Angeles, California a couple of days ago. Britney’s hair has really been annoying me for the last few years, I don’t have the best hair myself, but she always just sticks it on top of her head without brushing it and it’s always a mess.
She was wearing a pair of jeans from her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake’s line, William Rast. She chose a pair of their distressed bootcut jeans which she dressed casually with a striped top and a plain jacket. What do you think of Britney’s style? I don’t think she really has a style to be exact, she kind of just wears whatever she likes whether it matches or not. I think after everything she has been through, fashion isn’t something that bothers her anymore, she has bigger issues to deal with.
I was lucky enough to be sent these jeans by MET Jeans to review and I am so happy I got them. After I saw them on Elle MacPherson a few times a little while ago I completely fell in love with them. I’ve always loved the look of leather pants/jeans but I didn’t want a full pair of pants that were made entirely from real leather. This pair works out perfectly because they are more light weight than real leather and a lot more breathable and stretchy. But the bonus is they look and feel exactly like real leather.
I wanted to talk about the fit of these because it truly is amazing! They are one of the most skinniest pairs I have ever tried and they fit like second skin. They have a super low rise of around 6.5 inches and they only have a zip fastening, they have no button closure or anything else, just a zip. I found this weird to get used to at first but it’s actually quite a lot more comfortable than a button closure because it’s not so tight against the stomach. The inseam is not really long, I would say it runs at roughly around 29-30 inches but I haven’t measured it exactly. The length is perfect for me though and they seem to fit Elle great as they are more cropped on her. They do fit very much like leggings and they have both back pockets and front pockets.
The material is incredible, they are 75% cotton and 25% polyurethane and they are made to feel just like leather. They even have that matte and wrinkle effect like real leather. They have moto stitching around the knee area which can feel a bit tight at times but I am hoping they will stretch out quite a bit. Although these are thicker and coated, because they are cotton, they are very breathable, not as breathable as normal denim but they are easy to wear. I do find the knee area to go quite wrinkly though, I’m hoping that will sort itself out once they mold to my body more. It’s because they are so stretchy and the stitching around the knees kind of throws the sitting of the material off a bit, I think.
The sizing on MET Jeans I find to run a little on the smaller side in comparison to most premium denim brands. The back pockets are quite small (which I love) and in the perfect place on the butt as well. I’ve only recently just tried MET Jeans and I am very impressed so far. They are an Italian denim brand which doesn’t really get much mention, but they definitely should!
I’ve included 2 sets of photos, I dressed these down for a trip to town and I dressed them up with heels to show the versatility of these pants as well. I think they can be worn with almost anything. They have quickly become my favourite pair in my closet! I’m really glad I managed to find a pair of jeans that were just like leather but tonnes cheaper, animal friendly and breathable. I would absolutely recommend these to you if you love the leather jeans look!
We got the chance to catch up with Chip, the co-founder of Pray For Mother Nature. Chip owns this denim brand along with his wife, Nicole. We spoke to them about how they got started, what inspired them, where the brand name came from and more. Check out the interview below to find out more about the brand. I love what it stands for! What do you think of the brand?
DB: What inspiration goes into designing a pair of your jeans?
Hiking through old mining caves/tunnels in Colorado and Canada.
DB: What is your collection about?
We wanted to make a RTW collection of basic essentials all in a super luxe denim. The vibe was to create a collection that was ageless and timeless out of everybody’s favorite fabric… denim!
DB: Why did you decide to create your brand?
When I was in Japan I went to the Japanese fish market and I saw all the tuna stacked up and I wanted to “Pray for Mother Nature” right then and there.
DB: Do you have a favorite cut you have designed?
Yeah we’re launching, Pray for Mother Nature Men’s and I love the skinny cargo’s and chinos, in deluxe, sick twill fabric.
DB: How many jeans do you own yourself?
3 pairs. A skinny, a skinny, and a skinny with holes.
DB: Which jean has been the most popular overall?
They’re all popular, but probably our Jessie Spano, it’s a low rise flare, that looks amazing on the bum.
DB: We all love denim, but what makes it so important to you?
Because they’re durable, and dirty cool.
DB: What makes your brand so different from the others out there?
This brand is denim with a cause. We are very concerned with environmental awareness, and giving back to nature.
DB: What is the best feature of your jeans?
I always push for practicality in my designs, so for our targeted demographic we use a fit model that has a real body. I think because of that you don’t get the typical 6 foot legs and muffin top like the other brands. Our jeans are super flattering even if your not a supermodel.
DB: How did you come up with the name Pray For Mother Nature?
My wife Nicole, literally said, “we have to pray for mother nature”, when we saw the tuna, and I thought it was amazing!
DB: A couple of celebs have been seen in your brand, do you have a favorite?
I love em all, but I think Vanessa Hudgens has really hooked up style.
DB: What’s next for Pray For Mother Nature?
Well like I said before we are launching a men’s collection for fall 2011, and we are introducing new fabrics for women’s for fall, like recycled leather and new original wovens to mix back to the denim.
DB: Do you predict any new trends for denim in the coming season?
The 70’s are coming back in a big way.
Zac Efron was spotted running some errands around the town in Los Angeles, California yesterday. I heard Zac has had to put on 18 pounds of muscle for his role in The Lucky One which is a drama which he stars as a veteran of the Iraq War. I think it’s great how much dedication Zac shows with his acting, he shaved off his hair which was kind of his money maker for so long!
Zac was of course wearing his Balmain Homme pants again. He’s really loving these at the moment. I’ve also noticed that even though Zac has branched out with his clothing, he still keeps the same shoes, he’s been wearing similar shoes for years now. But his footwear always matches his clothes. I’m not shocked he is our Top Denim Guy of both 2009 and 2010!
