I thought this was worth a mention as Georgia May Jagger recently took her stand as a model for her mum and dads Hudson Jeans brand. She blew us away with her daring photos to promote the new line while she is only 17 years old. Since Hudson is featured on DenimBlog often and being a fan of the brand, do you think she will take home the award? Daisy Lowe is also another superstar who we have featured on DenimBlog, she could be the next winner as well. Who do you think will win? Below is a snippet of the article from The Telegraph.
The British Fashion Council has released the shortlist of nominees for the British Fashion ‘Oscars’, which will be announced at a celebrity-packed gala event, at the Royal Courts of Justice, in The Strand, London, on December 9th, an evening which will also bring the 25th anniversary celebrations of London Fashion Week to a close.
The event recognises the most influential movers and shakers in fashion today. Of the eleven categories at the 2009 awards, the ultimate accolade is undoubtedly the title ‘Designer of the Year’, which, ironically, was won last year by Luella Bartley, who has since ceased trading. John Galliano and Alexander McQueen have both won the title several times, and other previous winners represent a roll-call of the most well-known British designers in the world, including Hussein Chalayan, Vivienne Westwood, Matthew Williamson and Stella McCartney. The winner of this year’s title will be revealed on awards night.
This year, there will be a one-off London 25 Award decided by public vote, to celebrate an individual who embodies the spirit of London and is an international ambassador for the capital’s fashion industry.
The night will also acknowledge the achievement of one designer who, throughout their career, has made an exceptional impact on global fashion, with the BFC Award for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design.
Three of the country’s hottest young models will battle it out for the title of ‘Model of the Year’, previously won by the likes of Jourdan Dunn, Agyness Deyn, Karen Elson, Lily Cole, Erin O’Connor and Kate Moss.
The 2009 contenders are Georgia Jagger, 17, youngest daughter of Sir Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall, who is the ‘face’ of Hudson Jeans, one of the new ‘faces’ of Rimmel, and a new ‘star’ for Versace; Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, 22, one of the Victoria’s Secret’s “Angels” and a former ‘face’ of Burberry; and Daisy Lowe, who has an international modelling career, and is the daughter of Pearl Lowe, who recently launched her first clothing collection, and Gavin Rossdale, frontman of the band, Bush.
For this weeks outfit that I have put together, I chose 7 For All Mankind’s Gummy Gwenevere legging jeans in grey. The reason I chose these jeans is because they are absolutely gorgeous. I own them and I live in them, they are so comfy and so soft an they still maintain the hot 7 For All Mankind fit that we all love. The style I went for is a little rock chic mixed with femininity. I also own the All Saints vest which has Swarovski crystals on, it adds a hint of sparkle to the outfit. This ensemble features: 7 For All Mankind Gummy Gwenevere Skinny Jeans ∆ All Saints embellished Izora vest ∆ Miss Selfridge Black Military Waistcoat ∆ Report Signature Percy Heels ∆ Paris Je T’Aime Necklace ∆ Topshop Wide Mosaic Bangle ∆ CC Skye Triple Cobra Bangles. To all you lovely ladies who are expecting a baby, (congratulations), are you wearing denim leggings as well as your maternity jeans? I mean the denim leggings without any pockets which really are just like normal leggings. Since they are super stretchy, soft, so comfortable and breathable I think they would make a great item of clothing to wear throughout your pregnancy. Not only are you keeping on trend but you wont be suffering from any jeans that are too tight. They have also brought out maternity denim leggings now, specifically designed to fit slightly over your tummy instead of just under it. Red Herring at Debenhams have a pair for only £16! Or YummyMummy have a pair for £45 if you want more of a jegging style. You don’t just have to opt for the maternity style ones though, you can get away with the super stretchy legging styles too, which you can buy almost anywhere, Topshop, Paige Premium, Shopbop, Revolve…
Level 99 like to make sure their jeans focus on fit and quality. They have lots of great styles and washes out but top of their list this season is the Juliet jean which offers a fresh approach to the classic denim look. This cropped and cuffed versatile jean can transform any winter ensemble without breaking your bank. It looks like more of a trouser jeans without the classic back pockets and coin pocket. You can grab a pair at www.revolveclothing.com for just $106.
