Winter Blues is a brand of jeans that I came across a couple of months ago. The idea behind the brand is they create jeans which are absolutely perfect for the freezing cold months because they have fleece in the lining. The fleece is designed to keep your legs warm and block out the wind. I know I get freezing sometimes when I am just wearing normal thinner denim jeans and there is snow outside.
The concern I had with these jeans is that they would make my legs look too big or bulky due to the lining, when I tried these jeans I did find this happened a bit but that was because the jeans were actually too big on me. If you buy a pair that fit you really tightly then they are very slim fitting as you can see from the photos. When the jeans are worn, the fleece and the denim stretch out which makes them look thinner anyway.
The denim that Samantha (the owner and creator) is currently using is from the Candiani mill (Italian) and made up of 98% cotton and 2% lycra. It’s a 10oz fabric as well. I asked Samantha about the jeans and she said “It’s definitely a different “feel” to have them on with the soft fleece against your skin but they don’t make you look bigger”. The jeans are currently manufactured in a factory in Los Angeles, where they are also Laundered.
The jeans are definitely very warm, when I put them on I definitely felt that they would keep you really snug. They will be perfect for the snow weather and freezing cold evenings during the middle of Winter. Samantha is also working on a Spring/Summer line called WB which will have no lining. You can buy these jeans online at Winter Blues.
Doctrine Denim just finished shooting their Fall 2011 Look Book which you can see here. They are quite ahead as we are still sharing a lot of the Spring/Summer looks for 2011 but this is a great Look Book with wonderful styles.
Doctrine just launched in Hollywood with the event at Boudoir and it has now added women’s into their Fall 2011 collections. The Designer, Teresa Sung, wanted to launch the women’s line and stick with clean and simple silhouettes. There is a moto jegging which they previewed at trade shows in addition to straight legs, skinnies, trouser-style jeans and a twill. The men’s line is doing really well and has been one of the top selling lines at Saks in Beverly Hills so far. So what do you think of the new collection?
Here is a look at some of the best styles from the brand new Summer 2011 AG Adriano Goldschmied Look Book. The new collection features shorts, boyfriend jeans, wide legs and skinnies for the ladies and skinnies, relaxed jeans and straights for the guys.
The shorts pictured above are my favourite! They look really cute and perfect for the warm weather. I’m also loving the styling of this shoot, the outfits are really well put together and the setting is lovely. We all love AG Jeans because of their amazing washes, so which new items will you be buying this Spring?
This weeks review is on a pair of O*T*R Renegade Skinny jeans in Notorious. I got sent these by Boutique To You a while ago and I was pleasantly suprised by them actually. I am always slightly hesitant when so many new brands come on the scene and then just disappear so I always tend to stick to what suits me the best but these O*T*R jeans have been a good shock. I hope the brand stays around!
At first I thought they would just be another cheap pair of jeans which were not a very nice fit or have a nice look to them, but I was wrong as soon as I put them on. They are leggings so they are super skinny all the way to the ankle and they definitely elongate your legs. They are a lower rise which is just how I like the rises to be and they run pretty true to size for leggings, I took a 27 in these and they fit just fine.
The back pockets are also in a very good position but they are accentuated by the stitching lines on the butt. They have moto style stitching all around the top area of the pockets and a few lines on the sides of the pockets as well as at the hem line. I find these lines really add some character to the jeans as the wash is very plain and subtle, they definitely make them more interesting. I do feel that the lines definitely don’t make the butt look as good as it could if the jeans were plain but the design is intriguing so I like it.
They are made with cotton and polyester so if you have a irritation to polyester then these do itch a bit. They are so pretty though so it’s worth actually putting up with the slight itching. The denim is really thin and stretchy as well so they hug your body perfectly while still maintaining the appearance of a jean rather than a legging. The wash is a medium to light blue which has a sort of dusty look to it so it’s easy to pair with a lot of colours or just neutrals.
I think these are definitely a fun jean for fashion purposes but for essential jeans which are really sturdy and flattering I would still recommend the main stream brands. These do make a nice change though and quite a few celebs are a fan of them already! You can buy these jeans at Boutique To You for $136.
