Diesel in 2008: The Yoka Jean

If this look catches on, the muffin top will be a thing of the past, which we can’t complain about!

Diesel releases for 2008 the Yoka jean.  This effect screams “look what I have just thrown on”.  It’s an oversized jean with a paper bag waist that cinches.  Large pleats are placed with a wide denim sash tie to create a new center of focus on the waist as the focal point.

The higher waist came back in 2007, and this look has a 1940’s glam feel mixed with a little 1980’s fun going on - so this look just might catch on!  What do you think?  It’s definitely figure-forgiving for those of us with tiny waists and more junk in the trunk!

Read on for more photos of the Diesel Yoka jeans for men and women.

Dry & Raw Denim Lovers: Some sales for you!

April 77 jeans

Dry or Raw Denim is an unwashed denim treated with indigo dyes. Due to the nature of indigo dyes, the color fades and bleeds quickly. For those uninitiated with dry denim, one should try to wear the jeans as often as possible and post-pone washing them for as long as is tolerable (6 months to a year). The end result is a completely personal wash that denim designers constantly strive to reproduce. Take care around as these may bleed on white shoes and tops.

Check out the sale going on over at DenimBarOnline.com They have April 77 Joey Overdrive jeans in 1955 Dry for $75.00 and Denimbirds for $46.25 and lots of other great raw denim sales! Also Aqui is having a sale on its Nudie Super Slim Kims for $110.00 which is a great deal as they’re usually around $154!

In related news, HonestForum just opened up a new section devoted strictly to Dry Denim, so head over there if you want to discuss it some more.

An interesting alternative to hemming your jeans….

We ran across this site today and thought we’d share it with you.  It’s PantsFix.com which presents an interesting alternative to hemming your jeans.  We know sometimes you like to wear your jeans with flip flops, and sometimes with heels, and with this product, it appears you can!  We wouldn’t think this would work as well on something like Rock & Republics which have a 36″ inseam, if you are normally a 30″ inseam because there would be too much bunching - but if your jeans are just a couple of inches too long for you - try this!  They keep your jeans from dragging on the ground and give a natural look.  Check out the after (left) and before (right) pics below.  They run $17 for a of pair of Pants’Fix®, a pair of thermo adhesive and 3 pairs of adhesive velcro.

Denim 101: Spotlight on 7 for All Mankind

We found this guide at National Jean Company’s website and thought it was a great fit guide to share with our readers.  From time to time we’ll feature different brands to help you decide what style best suites you!

7 for All Mankind by denim guru Jerome Dahan, are known for their buttery soft stretch, comfortably snug fit and celebrity following. The magic of 7 for All Mankind is the way they maximize the shape of the wearer.

The A Pocket has a low rise and fits the shape of the leg: narrow at the knee, flare bottom. The waistband is contoured, lower in the front than in the back. This protects against a peek-a-boo in the back and makes the jean look generally lower in the front. This stretch denim is very forgiving on athletic legs, and rounder bottoms.

The Bootcut has a low rise, sits low on the hips and has a snug fit through the leg, loosens just above the knee. This is the signature jean by Seven.

The Dojo is the lowest fitting jean from 7 for All Mankind. The fit is tight through the leg, until it breaks into wider trouser leg. The bottom has a wide hem for a very sharp and sophisticated look.

The Ginger Wide Leg is a lightweight denim style with the spirit and style of the 1970’s. The contoured waistband has a front rise of 9”, 13.5” in the back. A single crease runs down the front and back of the legs giving the legs a long and lean look.

The High Waisted Trouser is a sophisticated and fashion forward style. They fit slim through the hips and fit wide through the thighs and leg. This is our highest rise at 13.75” and higher in the back at 16.25”. The slant front pockets add to the trouser style and the besom back pockets give a clean and smooth appearance. This only embellishement is a crease down the front and back of the leg.

The Kate Straight Leg is a slim fitting jean with a slightly stretchy feel. The denim pant has five pocket styling and straight leg. The waistband is contoured for a flattering fit on the waist and hips, a lower rise in the front at 7.5” and higher in the back at 12.25”.

The Lucy Skinny Pant combines the aesthetic of a jean, rivets, pockets, button, zipper fly with the feel of a legging. Runs true to size. The thick knit fabric keeps you in and warm. Fantastic with boots.

The Roxanne is the essential silhouette for a sophisticated denim look. Roxanne has a tapered, slimmed-down leg, intended to scrunch at the ankle over a killer pair of heels. The back of the jean has a yoke that rounds and lifts the bottom. The contoured waistband flatters the waist and hips, giving coverage in the back at 13.5” and lower rise in the front at 7.5”.The soft denim weave will tend to stretch a size with wash and wear. If you are between sizes, try down a size the jeans will stretch to your shape.

Deal of the Day - True Religion Bobby Flare Jeans

true religion bobby

We haven’t had a Deal of the Day for awhile but we just spotted these at Saks Fifth Avenue and had to pass on the tip to our readers!  True Religion Bobby Flared Jeans on sale for just $77.90 - that’s about as low as we’ve seen lately online!  Scoop up a pair today!

GUYS - Do: Affliction T-shirts. Don’t: Affliction Denim.

Affliction Denim

Is it just us, or did Affliction miss the mark on their denim line?  We LOVE buying Affliction T-shirts for our guy, but somehow their denim line is a little too ghetto-fabulous for us.  Thoughts?  If you do actually like them, they are available at eModa

We prefer our guys in a pair of Seven’s or True Religion’s, the pic below makes us drool a little.  Nothing makes a guy hotter than some artistic tattoos and designer denim.  Yummy!
