Once the sole domain of underpaid, overdressed minions of fashion, the sample sale has gone so mainstream, it’s practically its own segment of retailing.
And now, two new websites — the New York-based Gilt Groupe and the Los Angeles-based HauteLook — are bringing the sample sale to the Internet.
Both sites offer designer-specific sales, one to three times per week. Sales last 48 hours, and members at both sites must register to “attend.” (Gilt Groupe requires an invitation from a member, though the company encourages e-mailing the site if a referral is needed.) ***Editor’s Note - if you click the link above, TheDenimBlog.com members are able to sign up without a referral. ***

On Yoox.com, just $69 - we love these Diesel Crossim jeans. The lack of back pockets in back gives the booty a boost! And the front of these is different from our other Diesels, and we like them a lot! What a steal!

We’ve been wanting to try Genetic Denim. Even though we generally can’t stand Lindsay Lohan’s drama, she does have good fashion sense most of the time! These look to us like a pair of Genetic Denim’s Twisted Seam Wide Leg Jean in Cobalt. Love!

Have you ever wondered what a month is like in the life of a denim maniac? Chicken (pictured above) was the first member of the Dirty Dozen + 1 project which sees 13 people consecutively wearing the same pair of jeans everyday for one month each before passing it to the next member. The jeans are already well travelled and have made it to ball games, amusement parks, to the seaside, and central park in a just a few weeks. Denim maniacs know that the only way to wear raw selvedge denim is to wear it often and never wash it so that the denim develops natural wear and incredibly unique features like a patina, whiskers, and honeycombs. When the Dirty Dozen + 1 jeans are finished in late 2008 they would have had 13 continuous months of everyday wear!
