For the Theyskens’ Theory Spring 2012 show, Olivier Theyskens kept the looks wearable and easy like his collections in the past. You are never going to get something out of the ordinary at his shows. The jeans were slimmer this season than the previous. They also shot the looks at a different angle this time around.
I like the introduction of the polarized pants. When I saw them at Balmain I thought they were a cool new style. Olivier, unlike Balmain, sent down his polarized pants in lighter washes and slouchier fits. Like his previous collections, the ladies will love every single one of these pieces and the shoes again will be another hit. I think he does such an amazing job designing footwear. Here is a little preview of The Row Spring 2012 collection. It is amazing how far they have come from just looking for the perfect t-shirt. Going the complete opposite of last season, The Row had no fur this time around.
They showed looks of, what I call, luxury lounge wear, as well as some great dresses. My favorite pieces would have to be the appliqued trousers above. Something about them is just so intriguing. The little petals are just a great detail that is rarely seen in new york. I also think the tassel dress is a great one. You can click on the images below to see some of the looks.
Victoria Beckham sent down her Victoria Beckham Spring 2012 collection at New York Fashion Week over the weekend. The looks this season had classic Victoria style, all polished yet casual. Keeping to the trends of this season, the looks were color blocked, perforated, and pale.
Victoria definitely has an eye for tailoring, especially silk. I love the blue tube dress. One thing that was a surprise this season would have to be sportswear. She sent down quite a few looks that you would workout in, but never actually do it in, i.e. the silk hoodie above. I think it is a great take on the usual comfort wear. I actually want to see Victoria wear that on the streets. You can click through some of the looks below.
One thing that I will state about Rodarte…they should be given a Couture license pronto. They show so much skill in their looks that is of the Paris shows. If they would ever need a replacement at the French fashion house they are the ones. They would be a perfect fit for Dior.
The van Gogh inspired collection is sure to be a red carpet favorite. The dress above on Joan Smalls is just amazing, the only thing that it is missing is Kate Hudson. The tiered dresses are also amazing. Another that is also great is the striped dress. The cut on that is just perfect. I can see Jessica Alba in that one. One thing that they do impeccably are their knits. The sweaters are great in this collection, like many others. You can click on the images below to see some of the looks.
