Here is a look at the Meltin’ Pot Spring/Summer 2011 collection. There is no dark denim this season at Meltin’ Pot. Most of the looks were kept in medium to light washes. There were also some khakis and some greens, but no dark in sight. The inspiration for this season was vintage, which is right on trend with the ’70s comeback.
For the women there are shorts and jeans in, of course light washes. There are also some khaki chinos, a pair of white skinny jeans, as well as a pair of denim flight/sweatpants. For the men they have jeans and denim shorts that are torn and repaired, some green cargo shorts, some slouchy skinny cargos, and a pair of khakis. You can check out the collection below.
Cropped Flares were a trend that I didn’t think would get picked up by the masses, but I am happy it did. Stars like Jessica Alba, Elle Macpherson, and Kate Moss have all been spotted wearing these styles. The style is very laid-back for the day and easy to dress up for a night out. Brands such as Textile Elizabeth and James, Victoria Beckham, Genetic, True Religion, and of course the popular J Brand have all come out with styles in many washes.
Textile’s versions come with cut-off hems in medium blue washes. Victoria Beckham has styles in khaki and black that come with a mid-rise. Genetic combined two other trends for their version, lace-up and cut-off. The pair by True Religion come in their classic light-blue wash. Then there are the Gigis by J Brand which come in an array of colors. They come in a dark rinse, black, even some waxed styles in both black and brown. Which ones will you readers be rocking with your ankle boots and flats this spring? You can purchase these styles at both ShopBop and Net-a-Porter.
Kate Bosworth was spotted out at lunch in Beverly Hills, California. She was wearing what seems to be her favorite boyfriend jeans which she paired with her favorite Isabel Marant boots. She has been spotted in these MiH jeans a few times before. I think Kate usually has amazing style, but I am not too keen on this one. I think it would have looked better with sandals. The look is very “Kate Bosworth” though.
I like the super pale, sun-bleached look of these jeans. It makes me think of the best place in the world, the beach. It was just recently announced that Henry Cavill will be replacing Brandon Routh as Superman. I wonder if Kate will be reprising her role as Lois Lane. I thought she did a great job in the first film. Who do you think should play Lois Lane? Buy MiH Jeans at Donna Ida.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen held a launch party for their Textile Elizabeth and James Line at Tacombi in New York. The event had guests such as sister Elizabeth Olsen, Leandra Medine of manrepeller.com, Harper’s Bazaar’s Joanna Hillman, theglamourai.com’s Kelly Framel, milkandmode.com’s Carol Han, and Erica Domesek of PSimadethis.com.
Each tried on a pair of jeans from the Spring 2011 line while DJ Cassie Coane spun music. Mary-Kate and Ashley themselves were also wearing a pair of bottoms from the Fall 2011 collection. I love the pair on Mary-Kate. I think the carpenter style of them is really cool, as well as the ankle-zips and the rust color. I cannot wait till those are available. You can check out images from the event below.
