3 Ways to Wear Mom Jeans

Audrey Hepburn Mom Jeans

In honor of Mother’s Day, I decided that for my styling post this month, I would style pairs that have the “Mom’ jean feel. The high rise cut is no longer the unflattering cut that it was in the past and has been reinvented into a fit that suits everyone now. Whether you choose the classic blue or a more updated take with a kick flare or distressed wash, these are jeans that are styled in a way that is beyond mumsy or dated.

Mom Jeans - Citizens of Humanity

For this look, I chose the Citizens of Humanity Liya Jeans in Torn. They embody that classic “Mom” feel yet still feel so modern with the tailoring. This leads to them being able to be styled in numerous ways, like a feminine sporty approach that I went for here. I paired the jeans with the Boxy Tee from the RE/DONE|HANES collection. Pairing it with the shirt helps detour the jeans away from the mumsy territory, especially when paired with these Gianvito Rossi sandals. Then to add a bit of a sporty feel and cool to the look, I chose a jacket by Stella McCartney and a pair of Valentino sunglasses to finish it off.

Mom Jeans - Paige Denim

The mom jean is not of just one cut and the cropped flare take on the style is the newest way that it has been freshened up. The Paige Colette Crop Flare in Yvette, though still giving the mom feel, has this coolness about them due to their feminine approach. They instantly made me think of summer and that is where I decided to take the styling of the jeans. I paired them with a men’s Gucci shirt to add a bit of a contrast with the boxy cut against the fitted flare. Then to keep the femininity going, I chose a pair of Aquazzura flats in a matching neutral shade to a bag from The Row. As finishing touches, I chose a bangle by Fernando Jorge and sunglasses by Victoria Beckham.

Mom Jeans - REDONE LEVI'S

I couldn’t do a post on mom jeans without a pair of RE/DONE|LEVI’S. I went for their Skinny Straight cut for their casualness and fitted cut. For this look, I carried on the summer vibe from the look above and gave it a ’90s New Yorker feel. I paired the jeans with a shirt from Madewell that has a great slouch to it in contrast to the fit of the jeans. To give the look a feel of the concrete jungle, I chose a pair of boots from Barneys. I didn’t want heavy accessories for this look here and chose a simple clutch by Edie Parker and classic Ray-bans to bring in the ’90s attitude.

-Mom jeans are here to stay for the time being. So how are you styling them for the new season?
