A review of my favorite new Joe’s Jeans pants and why they’re great for the Spring…
Gaucho’s and culottes have come back in a big way making them THE IT item for Spring. Not only are they the perfect transitional piece for when the weather just won’t make up its mind, they’re also one of the most comfortable pants you can own. The best part about these flared beauties? They look amazing with any type of outfit combo you put together and they easily transition from day to night.
Recently, I was gifted a pair of Joe’s Jeans Gaucho pants in return for attending an event of their’s (so awesome), and I loved them so much that I wanted to take my love to the public and write all about it, right here on Denim Blog. I honestly haven’t stopped wearing them since I put them on (I’m not kidding…I wear them every day) and they look good with any pair of shoes I put them with (from trainers to strappy heels) encouraging this “never taking off” thing.
They fit like a glove, aren’t skin tight and flare out ever so slightly so it’s not an aggressive shape or a loud statement piece like some gauchos. The fact that they are denim is unique as a lot of gauchos are printed or black so I love that I can wear them casually like a pair of jean pants. Lastly, what I love about this particular pair of gauchos is that they combine two trends in one pant with the silhouette of the pants and the raw, fringed edge of the hem, which gives them a little bit of an edge.
This mid-rise jean is easy through the hips opening to a wide leg with a released hem and center crease line. In other words, they fit like a dream. The wide leg isn’t over exaggerated and is just enough to give you the classic Gaucho style shape. The released hem or as I’ve been calling it, the raw edge of the hem, has some nice threads hanging down, giving it texture and tapping into the fringe denim trend that’s really big right now. The rise is perfect, literally. It’s not too high or too low and perfect to tuck in your tops, or not. For my body, the thighs and rise are always a hard one as my thighs are a little bigger and my rise is shorter than normal, so I always judge a pair of jeans on these areas. These Icon Gaucho’s passed the test as the rise is a perfect length for myself and I believe anyone with a bit of a longer rise as well. The thigh area sits comfortable around my legs and isn’t uncomfortably tight or constricting. These guys are so comfortable I think I could wear them to bed, I’m not kidding. The length hits mid shin, which is a great place. It lengthens you but also gives an exaggerated crop effect as well. Fit gets an A+ from me!
The Icon Gaucho that I have is the “Jan” which is a “medium-light denim featuring stone washing, shadow whiskers, grinding, local pp spray, and hand sanding details”, it says on the site itself. To me this means it’s the perfect shade of blue for jeans to where you can dress them up or down. They’re that perfect hue in the middle of the “shade of denim” spectrum and what a perfect color for this unique silhouette to come in. The white tone from the stone washing sits on the perfect places to accentuate the parts of your body you want to accentuate and gives the jean an overall depth.
They also have the “Marcia” which is a medium dark denim featuring stone washing, shadow whiskers, grinding, local pp spray, and hand sanding details. If you’re more of a darker denim person or maybe want a pair that could be even more dressed up, this wash is for you.
