Because I can’t get enough of this brand…here is my review of the Hudson Krista Super Skinny Noir Coated jeans.

Comfort

As you know from my previous post, Hudson is my new favorite denim crush and I’m not ashamed to admit it. I think its most selling quality besides its quality is the fact that they are SO comfortable and I haven’t found a pair that aren’t. The Krista’s are similar to the Nico’s I reviewed in the way that they hug your body perfectly and have the right amount of elasticity to get them on but also be the perfect tight on your body. The Krista’s have a little bit of a different fabric content being 43% Viscose (a semi-synthetic fabric, formerly called viscose rayon) 33% Cotton 17% Lyocell (is a form of rayon) 5% Polyester 2% Elastan (or spandex). Because of this complex makeup they are a little thinner feeling than the Nico’s and they don’t stretch out as much even though the spandex content is less. I believe this is because of the other synthetic fibers in the makeup or like I said in my previous post, I didn’t stretch these out as much as I did the Nico’s.

Because they are thinner it has the look of denim on the outside but the feel of a cotton spandex legging when you’re wearing them. They’re so soft, the coating is obviously only on the outside so you’re getting the soft fabric makeup on your skin.

Wash and Feel

Like the name of the jeans says, they are a black denim that are coated in a sheen finish. This makes this pair a little more versatile as they could be a dressier pair of denim, worn to a cocktail party or nice dinner, or they can be dressed down with sneakers and a beanie for an edgy vibe. They’re just as soft as any other pair of Hudson’s and I’m starting to think they have a specific wash that they put their denim through to give it the same soft and worn in feel. They feel as if you’ve had them for years and they’re at that perfect point where they feel like they’re molded to your body and soft enough to be worn daily.

Fit

You may also recall in my previous post that I hit some specific points of fit that every pair of denim should hit. To refresh your memory here are the questions you should be asking when you buy your denim…

1. The Back Pockets. Where do they hit you body at the top of the pocket? Where do they hit your body at the bottom of the pocket? Are they too long? Too short? Do they make your butt look great or not so great?

2. The stitching on the pockets (and elsewhere). Is it too much? Is it weird? Are the colors messing with the color of the denim or the type of clothes you would wear with these jeans? Does it make your butt look great or not so great? Does it affect the fit of the jeans on your body?

3. The front pockets. Are the actual pockets too long and affect the way your thighs look? Where do the pocket openings hit? Is it flattering?

4. The rise. Are they sagging? On the flip side, is your crack showing? Most importantly, is it comfortable?

5. The length. Are they TOO long? Are they TOO short? What do you think is the perfect length for your body and are you shopping in that section/style?

The back pockets on the Krista’s are a little shorter than the Nico’s which I have no problem with. They make your behind appear a little larger than it is because they’re shorter and hit right below your butt. The stitching is the same where the “v” hits at the perfect spot on the pocket, right in the middle and the top stitching is right above the butt not decreasing the appearance of its size.

As for the front pockets, there are none which I have mixed feelings about. I like it because there’s no added fabric in the front of the jeans to make your legs look bigger, but I always try to reach in the pockets as if they were there so I almost wish there were some. I’m not mad at the no pockets but it’s something I need to get used to!

The rise is great and these do not sag like the Nico’s do. Again, it might be because of the fabric content or because I didn’t stretch these as much as I stretched the other pair.

You can’t see the length because of my boots but they’re the same as the Nico’s: perfect. They’re not too long or too short and there’s a nice little bunch of fabric at the bottom for texture and style.

In conclusion I’m LOVING the noir coating and the sheen that it adds to my pair of denim. I love dressing them up or down and they are so comfortable I can wear them everyday. I have no negative feedback about these and I plan on keeping them in my rotation of clothes I wear on the regular.

What do you think of the Krista’s? Do you own any? Are you a fan of the Noir coating?
