DENIM REVIEW: Nudie Lean Dean in Dry Cold Black

Nudie Lean Dean Dry Cold Black

For this review, I will be talking about the Nudie Lean Dean in Dry Cold Black. I have been slowly gravitating back to stiffer/thicker denim that have as little stretch as possible lately and I looked no further than Nudie as I have been a fan of their jeans for quite some time. I also love the story behind the label as they focus on the authenticity and heritage of wear…even with their pre-worn washes. Plus they have a variety of fits to choose from, so I wasn’t limited to the typical straight leg fit and having to go through the wet molding process for the custom fit.

I went with a size 28 in these as that was the smallest size on the site that I ordered them from. I am usually a 27 in Nudies, but a 28 worked just fine compared to my usual 27 that I go for with the Tight Long John. They are 100% cotton, so they stretched out a tad, but not enough to merit the necessity of going two sizes down. They actually stretched out to the perfect fit at the waist and are quite comfortable after the two weeks of wearing.

The length is a bit long at 34″, but that is expected. Though they weren’t as long as I thought they were going to be. I initially thought they were going to swallow me with the stacking, but they actually don’t and ended up being a good length for the cut on me as it helps balance out the slimness a bit.

The fabric was the main reason why I chose these jeans. Like I stated earlier, I have been gravitating towards a pair of jeans that were on the thicker side for multiple reasons. One being the weather and two being that brands lately have lost the main focus of what denim is. Many have leaned towards how much they can push the stretch factor and fashion trends which has taken away from the fabric that we all know and love.

Being 100% cotton, I have found that they even still have better retention and retraction than some of my stretch jeans. As they don’t have the stretch that can lead to bagging due to the strain that stretch goes through over time and they also don’t have any slipping due to the softness that stretch tends to cause.

The fabric definitely has a good hand to it. They are gentle against the skin compared to other 100% cotton that I have tried over the years. It just adds to the comfort of wearing them daily as they don’t feel abrasive against my skin.

Overall, If you are looking to try a pair of jeans that are classic to the heritage of denim, these are ones to try. They definitely brought back my appreciation to denim and have me excited to see the story that it will create as I wear them in. You can click here to purchase these jeans from EAST DANE.
