10 Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas Using Your Denim

If you’re not too fussed about Halloween and had no plans but have since been invited to a party and you have nothing to wear, don’t worry, outfits can be made from items in your wardrobe already. Some of you might have been much too busy with work or life’s challenges and didn’t have time to go out and buy one either, so we have you covered! Here are 10 different costume ideas that you can achieve using the denim and other garments from your wardrobe. Some of them are easy, only needing a shirt, jeans and boots while others require a little more bold denim options that I know a lot of us denim addicts already own. Happy Halloween!

Cowgirl

This one is probably the most easiest to re-create in terms of what you have in your wardrobe. All you need is a pair of daisy duke shorts, a shirt to tie up at the front (usually plaid) and then a couple of cowboy accessories like some boots and a hat. Hopefully you could borrow these from someone, especially if you live in the Southern states, but if not, I’m sure a local store might have a cheap hat and you could choose some other boots that are sort of similar. Just be sure to use a belt with a big buckle too!

Minions

Jennifer created a look like this really easily in our joint Halloween post, using a pair of short overalls, a long yellow t-shirt and some Doc Martin boots with some round glasses. You could opt for some yellow tights if you have them and some swimming goggles, but it works in a simple way too. You can even use a dungaree dress if you have one!

Robin Thicke

Now Robin Thicke is one that would work if you opted into the striped black and white denim trend a little while back. I have two pairs of striped jeans like this, from Paige and 7 For All Mankind, so if you happen to have these on hand, or a striped blazer too, this could work in a fun and quirky way! It’s not something everyone can do, but it is something different, so I’m throwing it out there!

Lumberjack

The lumberjack look is pretty self explanatory isn’t it? It works for both men and women and you just need some denim shorts or jeans, a red plaid flannel shirt, some sturdy boots and a trapper hat or hard hat. It works if you own a pair of suspenders/bracers to attach to your jeans and you can always have a plastic prop you can pick up at the local store this time of year, much like an axe.

Britney & Justin

This one is an iconic look and even Katy Perry re-created it not that long ago! This might be easier for those of you who adore denim and have multiple garments in the fabric. It works with a smart denim jacket and jeans in the same wash and your partner could try one of the latest denim dresses that have been popular.

Cowboys & Indians

The cowboy look for the guy looks great with double denim, a snazzy belt buckle, a bandanna and a cowboy hat. Your female partner can go as a Native Indian, much like Chrissy Teigen and John Legend here, but I think the male version of this is perfect! It’s the sleek, sophisticated cowboy that I love.

80’s Double Denim

Given the latest denim trends at the moment and the obsession of vintage Levi’s jeans and RE/DONE denim, 80’s is one of the easiest to pull off. All you need is a pair of washed out 501’s and a really baggy denim jacket. Finish it off with a few jacket patches if you want, some acid wash and a curly, over the top 80’s hairstyle and you will be all sorted!

Wayne’s World

I love this one! If you happen to have some ripped jeans, Converse, a graphic tee and a baggy shirt, plus a guitar, you are all set! You only need to pick up a wig or a cap and you are sorted! Most guys have these pieces in their closet so it should be really easy to pull off as long as you get the iconic hair styles right!

Aviator Pilot

I know this one isn’t made of denim itself, however if you loved the denim jumpsuit trend and happen to have a baggy one on hand, just stick on a few pilot style patches and you have yourself a denim aviator jumpsuit. This works for both men and women, but I’m sure more women are likely to have a denim jumpsuit, so guys, don’t be afraid to borrow one from the ladies!

Super Mario

Finally, I chose Mario from Super Mario Bros! Most of us have a red t-shirt and red heels on hand, plus all you need is a tight fitting pair of denim overalls and I know a lot of us have these if we are denim addicts. You can finish it off with some white gloves and all you need is a red baseball style cap. Hopefully you can borrow one of these from the boys, but it’s a look that should be simple enough to pull off. A fake mustache wouldn’t go a miss for an added bonus too! What are you going as this Halloween?
