I don’t know about you but once mid-August rolls around, I’m itching for Fall to arrive. It could be that I live in LA and we don’t get much of a cold season(s), or it could be consistently getting hit with heat wave after heat wave to where you are drained of all your energy once August finally ends. Either way, I think we can all agree that Fall is definitely a favorite and aside from Pumpkin everything, one of the best parts is transitioning your wardrobe. You can mix all the clothes you haven’t seen in months with your favorite Summer pieces you’re wearing now and your wardrobe is now exciting again. I’ve compiled a list of denim pieces that are on trend and so fun to layer up in different ways, your closet will be Fall-ready in no time.
Get the Piece: DENIM DRESS
I didn’t exactly give you inspiration images here but these are the two styles I’m LOVING in a denim dress. The off-the-shoulder trend that hit BIG this Spring/Summer is now trickling into denim, and this Alexa Chung for AG dress is a must. As for the bodycon denim dress, it’s hitting the scene hard and a for sure a hot item for Fall.
Style Tip: layer a shirt under your denim bodycon for extra style points.

Taking notes from Sheryl and Heather, this piece is great with a casual tee and a few pops of color within the look. The length will keep you warm if you need it, and the lightweight top will keep you cool when those daytime temps rise.

I specifically picked these photos because each one of these looks shows a different way to wear the denim on denim trend (and in ways I haven’t seen yet). You can layer it up like this chic little number on the right, or mix and match lengths like the cute BFFs on the left.

I feel like I keep mentioning overalls but how could I not? There are so many outfit possibilities and they’ve got that “I’m not trying, but kinda trying” look. Apparently I also have a thing for stripes paired with overalls (see above), but I love how it can be casual with a button up and gladiators (right) or dressy with the heels and scarves combo (left). Overalls are so versatile and can easily go from day to night.
Bonus! Trend We’re Loving: Turtlenecks!
This trendy piece is a little bonus I threw in, in case some of you happen to have all the pieces above and want a little more from your Fall wardrobe. The turtleneck has gotten a bad rep in the past, maybe coming off as “dorky” or “dad-ish”, but I’m really loving the way people are layering it lately. These new ways of styling the sweater are giving it life and making it a big statement piece.
