3 Ways to Wear: MOTHER Denim The Looker Ankle Fray in Guilty as Sin

The frayed hem is a popular trend right now and one brand that will carry on the style into the new season is MOTHER Denim. I would say they were my highlight when I visited MOTHER to see the new collection. The style is so well thought out and the cut along with the array of washes they come in is amazing. I couldn’t wait to do a post on them and you can see how I styled The Looker Ankle Fray in Guilty as Sin below.

This style just gives an edgy vibe with the frayed detailing and the distressed knee, so doing a monochromatic biker inspired look was a given. I chose to pair them with an R13 leather jacket to add even more of a tough vibe to the concept. I then kept everything else pretty classic with some Margiela boots and a simple black t shirt by TOPSHOP, but wanted to add a chic sense with this 3.1 Phillip Lim bag. It feels like an unexpected pairing with the look, yet feels right because of the embossing of the leather.

With the distressing, the pair can also go on the casual side very easily. My first thought of a shoe pairing when I saw them was chukkas. It may be due to how I would wear them myself, which is with a similar pair like these Common Projects. I then didn’t want to stray from the easiness too far, so I chose this graphic t shirt by TOPSHOP and backpack by Opening Ceremony. A graphic t shirt and distressed jeans just go hand-in-hand. Though simple, I find a little jewelry like this Cartier bracelet gives the look just the right amount of elevation to bring it all together.

I haven’t done a look with heels in quite a while and decided to do at least one as you can dress these up as well. You can’t go wrong pairing any pair of denim with suede shoes. Both wear into something so magical that only they can achieve. I chose this pair by Stuart Weitzman because they are so classic and are a great subtle contrast to the jeans. As the weather is warm, I thought another look with a t shirt would be redundant, so I chose this camisole by TOPSHOP. I opted for this Haider Ackermann bomber jacket (get a similar one here) for a color contrast and being that the first look was all black. The Ray-Ban wayfarers are the finishing touch as you cannot go wrong with them and they just make any look feel cooler.
