The Denim Jumpsuit Trend

Diesel Halterneck Denim Jumpsuit

The denim jumpsuit trend has slowly been creeping up on us and with good reason. Jumpsuits are going to be one of the most popular pieces for spring 2014 and so many brands have released their own take on the trend as we have been sharing with you over the months. Similar to overalls, jumpsuits can feel a little easier to wear as the fabric is often thinner and the top half is more shirt like than straps and buckles, so they can be more comfortable as well as laid back.

The best thing about jumpsuits is that the list of styles is endless! You can have strapless, spaghetti straps, t-shirt tops, shirt tops and more, but one thing that remains the same is the fact that each top half is always connected to the pants at the bottom. I thought it would be a good idea to compile a list of some of the hottest jumpsuits around at the moment and even give some styling advice on how to wear them, both dressed up for a night out and dressed down for the afternoon. How many of you are loving the jumpsuit trend? You can shop some more pieces which aren’t in this post online at

Styling Ideas

For a looser fitting denim jumpsuit, or one that has rolled sleeves, I recommend styling these more casually for the afternoon. I’ve chosen a coloured plaid shirt to wear undone over the top (providing your jumpsuit isn’t shirt style) with rolled sleeves as I think this really dresses it down. Throwing on the sandals, a cross-body bag and some jewellery just brings some more life to the look too! This would be perfect for a day out shopping or at the park or beach.

For a tighter fitting jumpsuit, or one that looks a little more glam, these are perfect for wearing dressed up for the evening. I recommend wearing them with some high heels, a fresh and light coloured blazer over the top and some fancy accessories like gold jewellery and a gold clutch. I think the darker the denim for your evening jumpsuits, the better. Dark denim is much easier to dress up and it suits cream and gold nicely.

– So, what do you think of the jumpsuit trend and how do you wear yours?
