Rodarte Spring 2014

After being inspired by their hometown of Santa Cruz in Northern California, it was a natural progression for the Mulleavy sisters to move down to the southern region of the sunny state for their Spring 2014 Rodarte collection. Instead of the usual inspirations of surfers, skaters and the beach that is regularly associated with the region, the sisters opted for the normally untouched territory of East LA Chola style. The collection had the cohesive mix of the opulence, randomness and the tough concrete streetwear that is constantly seen on the streets of the area.

This is a collection that which at first look would have many question marks over peoples’ heads, but I have to say that I find it pretty genius. It was refreshing to see a collection that was inspired by something that is far from high fashion and usually ignored. Plus those shoes were a huge highlight for me this whole season at New York. I can already see Miley Cyrus swooning over this as well as mags choosing Candice Swanepoel as their model of choice to shoot these clothes on. See the full collection below.
