This weeks denim review is on the Sanctuary Wallpaper Denim Shorts in White. I originally saw these on Maria Menounos on one of her Instagram photos in the Navy version, but I liked the white a little more, so I am happy that I got to review this version of them.
I took these in a size 28 because I generally like my shorts to fit a little looser. I don’t like denim shorts that are tight all around, especially in the leg opening, it’s just not comfortable or practical for the hot weather. These fit me just right, a little bit loose and very comfortable. I did roll the hems on these shorts up 1 more, so the original length they come with is about 1 – 1.5 inches longer, but because I have shorter legs, that length didn’t look as good on me, which is why I cuffed them up a little more. Usually I have a lot of shorts with raw hems, so it’s nice to have a pair of shorts with a neat line. This rolled hem really suits the wash more.
The denim of these is quite thin, so they are good for the warmer weather and because they are white, they literally go with anything and keep you cool since white reflects heat. They have tiny little blue flowers printed on these, all around, which is where they get their Wallpaper name from. They do look like old fashioned wallpaper or tapestry, but in a light and airy way. I wore these all day over the weekend and even wore them to the cinema, so I can say they are very comfortable. I didn’t feel restricted or have them riding up on me at all, I felt fine wearing these all day, which is a huge bonus as there is nothing worse than having shorts riding up and being painful.
If you want these shorts to fit tighter then I would recommend that you stick with your usual size, but if you like them a little bit looser for comfort like I do, then I recommend you size up one. I haven’t ever tried Sanctuary denim before these, so I was quite surpised at how good they look. The back pockets are in a nice position and they flatter the butt a lot, but because these are white all over, you don’t see the back pockets that much anyway. One of the best things about these shorts though is their price, they retail for $88 and can be purchased at Sanctuary’s website.
