DenimBlog Exclusive: Denim Interview With Rebecca Minkoff

As you may have already heard, Rebecca Minkoff recently expanded her company and ventured into a denim line! Her jeans have already been seen on popular fashion bloggers and I can definitely see them being a hit with the celebrities! I caught up with Rebecca to find out more about her new venture into denim and see what she had to say! You can read the interview below and you can see some of the new styles in the gallery as well! Have any of you tried Rebecca Minkoff denim yet? I will also be posting her look book later today! You can also buy the jeans online here.

DB: Hi Rebecca, thank you for doing this interview with us. What made you want to start doing denim?

I love denim and I wanted to give my customer another casual staple to add to her wardrobe. It was important to me that the jeans be a premium quality, but also a great price for my customer. Our price range for the denim and t-shirts is $48 – $128.

DB: I’ve personally been a fan of your bags for a while, did you make sure your jeans would suit the style of your bags or have you kept them separate?

I didn’t design the denim line with the bags in mind, necessarily, but I’d like to think that you can definitely wear the two together! One of my favorite pairs right now is the Mercer boyfriend with our new Logan backpack.

DB: Your line looks really classic, with an elegant print mixed in, what sort of vibe were you going for when designing your jeans?

When I think of denim, the word classic comes to mind. I wanted to make sure that the denim that I launched with could be staple pieces in my girl’s everyday wardrobe. The paisley print was a fun summer accent!

DB: How did you work on getting the perfect fit with your cuts?

We went through several fit tests and trials. I have to say, I’m really happy about how it all turned out for my inaugural denim line!

DB: Are your jeans made in California or elsewhere?

All of our Rebecca Minkoff DENIM is made in the heart of downtown Los Angeles with the finest quality, locally-sourced, power stretch fabrics.

DB: For FW13, will you be adding any flares or bootcut styles to the selection?

We’re still working on the Fall collection, so you’ll just have to wait and see!

DB: What makes Rebecca Minkoff jeans different to the other premium denim brands on the market?

For this venture, we are partnering with Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign. With each purchase from the collection, a donation will be triggered to No Kid Hungry, which can connect a child in need with up to 20 meals, such as school breakfasts and summer meals. What else is better than getting a new pair of great jeans and at the same time, making steps towards ending childhood hunger!

DB: Are you a big denim fan yourself? Do you own a lot of jeans?

I love denim! I own quite a few styles, I think I’ve lost count! I’m currently living in our dark grey skinny style and our boyfriend style.

DB: Thank you Rebecca!
