4th of July Denim Style Inspiration

Lorna

The 4th of July is just two days away, so we thought we would publish our annual 4th of July styling inspiration post. You can see last years by clicking here. This time around, each of us switched denim colours to create our looks. Jennifer, Jonathan and I all did an outfit in red, white and blue, centered around jeans, while Chanelle stuck with the colour theme, but styled a skirt. You can see each of our looks within this post. Happy of 4th July everyone!

Last year, I went for a smart look which featured a blazer, skinny jeans and heels, with classic jewellery, so this time around I wanted to tone it down a little and do more of a casual glam ensemble. I chose to use these Rag & Bone skinny jeans in Destroyed White for the base as white jeans are classic, but the distressing really helps tone them down. Keeping with the 4th of July theme, I chose a US flag top from BooHoo which paired nicely with the Gianvito Rossie red suede pumps. To make things a little more fun, I added a Michael Kors Selma messenger bag in Neon Yellow to brighten it up and make it a little more playful. I usually use gold jewellery, but this look suited silver a lot more, so I went with a Michael Kors silver Chronograph watch, a Studio silver Star pendant and some Wallis silver band rings just to finish it off and tie it together.

For my look, I chose a pair of the Lennox Flares by TEXTILE Elizabeth and James. I wanted to change it up from the usual shorts that are known as the staple for this holiday. I paired the jeans with a shirt from Topshop, a belt from A.P.C and sandals from Saint Laurent to help dress it up while still keeping the look appropriate. Then to amp up the look some more, I added some Balenciaga rings and a cuff by Lanvin. To finish it all off, I chose a pair of RAEN sunglasses. It is the 4th of July after all, no look is finished without a pair of sunglasses.

I generally like to be themed for holiday’s/occasions, but without the cheese. Since the 4th is right when Summer starts to pick up, I felt like a wrap skirt with a crop top was in order. To keep the theme? Some stripes and a red, white and blue color scheme. I added a little 90s’ flare with the daisy bag, circle sunnies and flat forms, or if you want to tone down the look, put on your favorite sandals and sunglasses and you’re all set. This outfit will take you anywhere from a backyard BBQ to fireworks on the beach.

For my 4th of July look, I wanted to style a casual look that would still have some polish and be festive for the holiday. I chose these Red Zara cut off shorts with distressing as the base for my outfit because I really liked the front distressed details and fraying at the hem, I also think they’re a nice length.

I added this red and white striped tee shirt from Steffan Schraut to incorporate some white into the outfit. I also thought the slouchy shape of the tee would look really nice with the cut off shorts. Next, I added these silver and blue flat sandals from Zara because I thought they added a nice touch of color. I included some more color with a gold Yves Saint Laurent Arty ring and Gorjana wrap bracelet. I went with gold accents on the accessories because I think the mixed metals look nice with the casual outfit. Lastly, I finished the look with this tan fringe tote from Calypso, since I liked the fringe detail. Also, it has a long strap that can be worn cross body.
