j brand baroque 7 Denim Review: J Brand 835 Baroque Jeans in Plum

This weeks review is on J Brand’s 835 Baroque print cropped jeans in Plum which was requested by Jen on Instagram. I got these jeans as a gift and not for reviewing purposes, however since I was asked to review them, I don’t mind doing it for you guys.

This is my first time trying the 835 fit actually. It’s a mid rise cropped super skinny jean and the fabric feels more like a twill than actual denim though. It’s really soft and lightweight at around 7oz, so it’s perfect for the warmer weather. Although this fit isn’t my favourite, it is very comfortable. It’s skinny all over, but I find that the inseam length hits at an awkward place for me. I don’t have very long legs as you know so I feel like they should be a little bit shorter or a bit longer, but they are never going to fit perfect for everyone as all of our legs are different.

The back pockets are also quite high up again so they don’t fit exactly in the position I like them too. I also found them to be a little bit wide spaced so there is quite a big gap in the middle and they creep around to the sides. It’s not awful like this, but definitely not a preference of mine. I prefer them central and to hit in the middle of the butt so the pockets are lower down.

I took a size 27 in these (my usual size) and they fit fine. I would say they run a little bit tighter than other J Brand jeans I have, down to the fabric, but they stretch out a bit so they are comfortable. The print though is my favourite part about these jeans, I love the subtlety it has to it and the fact that it doesn’t stand out and look too bold. It’s really wearable and versatile which is not something you can find easily in printed jeans. It reminds me of a mix of paisley and tapestry and I find it really cute. It doesn’t look old fashioned like you might expect, it looks quite fun and fresh.

So overall I love the Baroque print and the Plum colour suits it well, the fabric is really soft and comfortable, but the fit isn’t my favourite. It’s not a J Brand cut I would pick over others like the 910 or 901, those are my favourite ones! Have any of you tried the Baroque print? Do you like it? You can buy them online here at JBrandJeans.com.

I actually love the length of these, I think they make your legs looks really long! And the print is stunning, I’m getting into my patterned jeans now so maybe once payday comes around :-)

Oh I think they make them look short, ha ha! Which ones are you going to get on pay day? :)

Thanks so much for doing the review! They look great! I didn’t think I’d like the pattern but I love them! :)

Oh I’m not sure yet, payday’s too far away – I can’t tempt myself by looking, haha. I’ll take a trip to selfridges I think, I work so close to there that I’m sure I’ll be tempted before then! There was a pair from your next-season preview that I loooved, but can’t remember the print, I think they were your favourite too though, I’ll have to have another look :)

    You are welcome Jen :)

And Sab, do yo mean J Brand print from AW12 or another brand? The prints I love from AW12 are the Paige leaf print and some Current/Elliott. But the ones from J Brand were the spotty dyed ones!

I am so surprised to read your comments about the pocket placement. I always think of J Brand doing pocket placement to perfection. Sounds like they did things differently on this style.

I always thought the same. How their pockets are on the 901 and 910 are perfect to me, but on these and on the Bluebell I reviewed a little while ago, they made them higher up and I don’t like it lol!

Yes, it was the leaf print, I loved those! I remembered earlier while I was at work, he he. The spotty ones I love too, where I work we have some similar spotty crops coming next season and they are just so so cute!

Yeah the leaf print is gorgeous! I adore it!

Hi Lorna, it seems everytime I am contemplating a pair of jeans, you have a review on them…thanks!! :) Would you say these are tight enough that you would size up to a 28 or would they be too big?

  12. Lorna, Editor says:

Hi Frances :) You are welcome! Actually after wearing them for a while they stretched out quite a bit, so they now fit fine. Maybe take your normal J Brand size, or if you are between sizes with J Brand, go up to the bigger size you take, then stretch them out a bit with wear, that seemed to work for me :)

Thanks! I REALLY trust your opinion since we are the same size, I think almost the same height too. I live in the tropics so the capris are perfect for warmer weather but the color and design is perfect for A/W. Appreciate the feedback!!

I’m 5ft 5 if that helps! And hopefully they work for you, the places they were tight for me to begin with is the hips/waistband area, the legs were fine for me as well as the butt.
