Denim Review: Current/Elliott The Skinny Jeans in Vintage Zebra

This weeks review is on the brand new Current/Elliott The Skinny jeans in Vintage Zebra. I bought these on Shopbop.com as I had a voucher to spend. I originally saw them in London a couple of months ago at the Autumn/Winter 2012 press day and I fell in love with them the moment I saw them. I couldn’t take my eyes off of them. These are the next in their animal print jeans after the famous leopard print and boa print.

The fit of these is their classic The Skinny cut so it features a longer inseam and a slim cut all the way down with a lower rise. Out of all of the Current/Elliott cuts, my favourite would have to be the Stiletto, so these would have gained more points if they were in that cut as The Skinny doesn’t fit me as perfectly as the Stiletto. I still think they are a nice cut because they are skinny all over as skinny jeans should be, but I can’t change my personal preference on jeans. These are more suited to longer leg ladies in my opinion. As I have reviewed Current/Elliott quite a few times before, I wont go into the pocket placement etc again as it’s the same as before.

As for the Vintage Zebra wash, I still think it’s one of the coolest washes around. As it’s faded and more vintage looking, it’s definitely not too in your face at all, it works quite well. My only issue with the print is the horizontal stripes, I feel like they make my legs look a little wider than they are. I know that’s always the illusion with horizontal stripes widening things and vertical lines making things longer, but I don’t suppose there is anyway around this since it’s zebra print after all. I did notice that the stripes do form a line in the middle as they have a gap, so it sort of creates a V illusion. I think if they didn’t have this and the zebra print went all around, they would make your legs look even wider, so this definitely helps where the print is concerned, as it is really pretty.

I took my usual Current/Elliott size of 26 in these as the brand does run bigger than most others, so I always size down. They are quite fitted and tight to begin with, but they stretch out quite quickly so it’s not that bad having them tight. They are lightweight in material and stretchy so they are comfortable to wear, even when tight.

Also, as a side note, please do excuse my hair in these photos, it got wet while taking them because of the constant rain over here. I had to dash out while it stopped, but it started again and I couldn’t avoid it, ha ha. What’s your opinion on these jeans? Do you think you like them as much as their leopard print? I think I am still fond of the leopard print more, but these are definitely growing on me. You can buy these online at Shopbop.com for $188.
