Diesel Black Gold Fall/Winter 2012

Here are the key looks from the Diesel Black Gold Fall/Winter 2012 runway show at New York fashion week. Loads of celebs were also in attendance like Emmy Rossum, Theophilus London, Chelsea Tyler, Amber Le Bon, Mia Moretti, DJ Caitlin Moe, Harley Viera-Newton, Shenae Grimes, Karmin, Petra Nemcova, Ryan Korban.

I think they did a really good job with this collection. I love the orangey red colours mixed with the pinks. It’s a combination you wouldn’t think works, but it does. I have included some info on the collection for you below as well.

The flickering projector. The silvery light. The dramatic music. And the tingling of your spine! A vintage B-movie inspiration runs like a deliciously dark thread through the latest Diesel Black Gold collection. Scales and skins abound, reminding of the rock-chic heritage of the label, combined with graphic knits that provide an ironic pulp aesthetic.

Worried about jumping out of your skin? Not to worry – there are plenty of layers to protect you against the chill. And you’ll howl with delight at faux fur touches that turn wearers into cuddly werewolves.

Nothing is as it seems, as genders blur and merge into streetwise pieces that offer protection against the mysteries that lurk in the shadows of a nocturnal city.

Like all the best examples of the suspense genre, the collection weaves its effects from the unseen. Instead of pointing its camera directly at the subject, it works its magic with misdirection. These pieces are not elements of a disguise, they’re detailed and luxurious fashion items, comfortable and wearable, although not exactly conformist.

Above all, the collection has a sense of humour – a key element of the Diesel DNA – while adding a hint of danger to keep you on your toes. This isn’t just any cinematic shocker; rather a lush subterranean world of suave accents, red lips and temptingly pale necks.
