Diesel have began the re-launch of their female collections with the introduction of a completely new design team, headed up by ex Fashion East and NEWGEN designer Heikki Salonen. This global re-launch of Diesel female sees their collections being stripped of external branding, improved silhouettes which are more feminine and is a collection aimed at a new age group of Diesel females aged 25-35.
The collections are based on a modern day capsule female wardrobe, incorporating premium basics and key stand out pieces which work with, and interchange seamlessly to fit into any woman’s wardrobe. The collections going forward are about discovering the brand rather than it advertising itself through over design or being outwardly branded. This isn’t just about a one-off collection; it’s about building the foundations for a whole new approach to how women dress in Diesel.
I was a bit shocked by this at first since I know so many of us love Diesel just the way they are. I think the branding is what makes them popular because it’s not too over the top. I am sure people will like the new styles, which are going to be minimal, but I am not sure how you strong Diesel fans feel about the change? What do you think? As long as they don’t change the way the men’s look though, I think Diesel men’s jeans are one of the sexiest jeans a guy can wear personally. I’m going to see the new Diesel collections next week in London so it will be interesting to see how they look. Stay tuned for the images.
