current elliott 13 Denim Review: Current/Elliott Low Bells in Blue Moon

This weeks review is on the Current/Elliott Low Bell flared jeans in Blue Moon. I got sent these by the brand after falling in love with them online. I immediately fell in love with the wash and I hadn’t tried Current/Elliott in a long time. I’ve always been a fan of the brand though.

I want to start out with my favourite thing about these jeans, the fabric. They are literally the softest pair of jeans I have come across. The fabric is very lightweight and so stretchy, it’s just beautiful. It’s one of those fabrics that I like to rub my hands across just to feel how soft it is and its texture. Being that it’s like this, it makes the jeans incredibly comfortable, very much like a jegging actually with the movability of the denim. Since I got these in the mail, I have already worn them 3 times and that’s a lot for me as I like to chop and change so often.

The Blue Moon wash is very pretty, these photos are actually very representative of the colour, they are a nice medium to light blue with subtle fading here and there. It’s really beautiful and so easy to pair things with, it’s one of those ‘go with anything’ washes in my opinion. I’m sure you can see from the back photos that these are just a touch too long for me, even with my highest heels on, which are around 5.5″ in height. The inseam on these is around 34″ so I am thinking about hemming them myself. With most flares though, they always have a longer inseam of around 34-35″ so these are about right when it comes to that.

These jeans do run pretty big though, while I’m normally a 27/28 in most brands like Paige, 7 For All Mankind, Diesel etc, I had to take a 26 in these because they are very stretchy and just run generally big all over. I would recommend sizing down in these ones if you have the choice. They stretch out quite quickly too so even if they are very tight to begin with, they wont be for long.

Current/Elliott’s classic pocket shape is quite long, it’s a lot longer than most brands and it hits below where your butt cheeks meet the thighs so it’s a good pocket if you have a butt that sticks out a lot, I always find the longer pockets most flattering on the bigger buts because they don’t swamp you due to having something to stick the pockets out, in my opinion. They have quite a universal pocket shape though and it seems to look really nice on the celebs, they always look great in the brand!

One reason why I like Current/Elliott jeans would be because they always keep their details minimal, no extravagant pockets, no branding everywhere, they believe in simplicity and they always make the jeans their own with their washes. I find them to care so much about making a beautiful wash and I love that. It counteracts against the plain jeans, it gives them life. Overall though I am completely in love with these jeans and I can’t wait to wear them again actually! Buy these online at Singer22.com for $218.

I have these and love them! I think these are the perfect casual bell bottom…the big/long pockets on current elliott jeans are always sort of a stumbling block for me because I can’t quite figure out how I feel about them, but I think in the end they just make the jeans seem more casual – part of that overall soft, slouchy vibe that is current elliott to me. I feel like these jeans ask for flip flops or clogs rather than a dressy heel. But that is just me…

Thanks Jen and Tanvee! I find they are casual jeans too :) I wouldn’t wear flip flops with these though as they would make my legs look even shorter lol!

As always, you look adorable, Lorna. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you have an “off” outfit. You have such fab style! Plus, your reviews are great. You’re always positive (as I sense is just your personality) but also objective. Thanks!

These jeans make your legs look great from the front and I didnt even notice the extra length at the back that got wet. I’m wondering whether bell bottoms can be worn by short ppl with out making them seem even shorter. I’ve had a pair of modest flares once and they looked great but Im not sure about these wider more 70s cuts. Ive looked at Salma Hayek and Hilary Duff and they dont seem to be pulling it off as well as the leggier celebs. Anyone has an opinion on this?

Hi Sophie! It all depends on the shoes and the size of the legs in my opinion. I’m not tall myself, my actual inseam is 30″ but I wont touch a pair of flares unless I’m wearing at least a 4.5″ heel because the heels add the extra length to make your legs look longer. I wont wear them with flats because my legs are too short so if you try them with some really high heels and make sure the hem covers the shoes, you might be suprised at how leggy they make you look :D

Thanks for the advice Lorna! I’ll probably have to bring along a pair of high wedges to the store with me.

Yeah definitely try that out or at least go as high as possible on your tip toes so you can see the effect :)
