Balmain Homme Spring 2012

Just as I expected, Balmain has now gone to a more put together route. At first, when I was looking through this collection, I have to say that I was a bit unsure if it would still have the essence that Christophe Decarnin put into the house. But after looking through the whole collection, I actually find that it still does. Truthfully, I do find it to be going down a Balenciaga route a bit with the colors and cuts of some of the outerwear, but still feels like Balmain.

The distressing detail is not so in your face, yet is still featured minimally throughout the line. Also featured this season, that was not as prominent in the past seasons, are pastels. Yellow, orange, and mint green came in forms of jeans, scarves, t-shirts, vests, and jackets.

The first thing that I fell for in this collection right away was the crocodile jacket above. The tailoring is just amazing. I also love the whole look from from the third image below. Jackets are definitely Balmain’s strong point. They are just so well tailored. Overall I think Balmain is under great hands with Olivier Rousteing.
