galliano John Galliano Fired From Dior!

I was really shocked to find out that John Galliano has been fired from Dior! I heard something yesterday and then woke up today to find out what had happened. I’m wondering who they are going to pick to replace him? He was a great designer! You can read the article below.

Designer John Galliano has been fired as creative director for French fashion house Dior after his alleged anti-Semitic remarks at a bar in Paris. Dior Couture’s chief executive Sidney Toledano said he condemned Galliano’s reported comments “in the strongest terms, which are in total contradiction with the essential values that have always been defended by the Christian Dior house.”

Dior also added that as a consequence it had “immediately suspended relations” with Galliano and that it had “initiated dismissal procedures” regarding the “particularly odious comments” made in the video published on Monday by The Sun website.

The video purported to show the designer saying that he “loves Hitler” before telling horrified guests that their ancestors would have been “f***ing gassed.”

The reported remarks happened at the same bar Parisian bar La Perle where he was arrested last Thursday for threatening behaviour and allegedly making anti-Semitic and racist comments. He was immediately suspended by Dior after his arrest, with the fashion house, owned by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, citing its “unequivocal zero-tolerance policy regarding anti-Semitism and racism.”

Oscar-winner Natalie Portman, who is the face of Dior fragrance Miss Dior, revealed how she was “deeply shocked and disgusted” by his alleged comments, adding: “In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way.”

It was rumoured that the star would wear a Dior gown designed by Galliano for Sunday’s Academy Awards, but instead Portman wore a Rodarte dress following his arrest. It’s still not known whether Portman will continue to model for Miss Dior or terminate her contract. Galliano had also recently been announced as the designer of Kate Moss’s wedding dress.

[...] shocked to hear what has happened with him, being that he is my favorite designer. Then to hear what he has done is pretty appalling. I think many are going to be distancing themselves during this time from Galliano. You can click [...]
